There are a ton of elite level non-NBA trainers in the world. Boxer trainers, football trainers, etc.

And is there any rule that says players can’t personally hire NBA trainers? I’m pretty sure they can workout with whomever they chose. Nobody is getting paid by the NBA. Not the players, not the trainers, not the team doctors… nobody. Do the owners have a right to stop a trainer from getting paid as a personal trainer?? I don’t know for sure but I doubt it. That’s their livelihood.

If I were an owner, and found out that one of my players who has history of injuries was working with a trainer on my payroll I wouldn’t stop it. That’s ridiculous. You’d want that player to get healthy even if there’s a lockout in place.

Aw man, seeing that Odom pic on the last slide made me feel a little bit sad inside.

I really hope he’ll be a regular in the NBA someday, even if it’s just in a Shaun Livingston-like way.
