Breaking News: Duke vs. North Carolina Alumni Game Scheduled

While all the NBA exhibition and charity games during the lockout have been great, there’s been one element missing: school pride. So if guys can put on for their city or their team, the next logical step for them was clearly to put on for their alma mater. And it only makes sense that one of the most heated and storied rivalries in sports kick things off.
According to Mark Watson of Blue Devil Nation, the first annual “Kings of Tobacco Road” game will take place on Nov. 17 at 8:30 p.m. on the campus of North Carolina Central University. While we hypothesized what an alumni game with current NBA players would look like last February, here’s who the game is slated to feature as of now:
Duke: Kyrie Irving, Nolan Smith, Corey Maggette, Chris Duhon, Elton Brand, Gerald Henderson, and coached by Jay Williams
UNC: Jerry Stackhouse, Rasheed Wallace, Brendan Haywood, Antawn Jamison, Vince Carter, Raymond Felton, Shammond Williams, Donald Williams, and coached by Phil Ford
Who do you think will win?

NC wins in a blowout. Without Grant Hill, the Duke coach is the best player on that squad

Obviously UNC has the advantage inside, but unless Felton is guarding both Kyrie and Nolan…they will run circles around the rest of the UNC guards. Missing a lot of alumni that still in the league.
FYI – Kyrie is best player on the floor right now. I know he missed a lot of time last season, but did anyone see the games he played in?? He was arguably the best player in the country as a true freshman. Kid is legit. People are sleeping on him.

LMAO@ Kyrie.
How can you be considered a real dookie, or even ACC player if you never played against North Carolina? Kyrie Irvings career will turn into a joke like that of Jay Williams, Chris Duhon, Will Avery, Daniel Ewing, Bobby Hurley, Trajon Langdon, JJ Reddick…well you get the point.
Either way, if this was a real game (meaning the guys took it seriously instead of BSing around traveling and throwing alley oops off the wall to each other) UNC wins this one easy.

Finally a game that makes sense in the endless flow of “all-star” games. Throw in UCONN and Kentucky alumni and make a mini-tournament.

How are you calling Jay Williams’ career a joke. It got cut short by a tragic motorcycle accident. That was the last time Duke actually had elite NBA caliber talent.

They need to get some more players. Where is Ty Lawson? Rashad McCants? They need to get better players for this. Maybe some of them declined to play, but they definitely need better players if this is going to happen. Hopefully it is shown on TV too.
