While we showed you JaVale McGee‘s conventional workout this morning, this video showcasing perhaps the two best players in the world is a little different. With the swimming pool stuff, I feel like I’m watching The Guardian. Some NBA players set sail for the Caribbean once the season ends. But as we’ve seen before with LeBron James and Kevin Durant, they are going hard despite the lockout. With that, watch two of the best players in the world workout with trainer Mike Mancias at the University of Akron. Read More »
This is what powerhouse teams do: they go for the big names. Remember back in intramurals when there’d be one or two teams – many of the best and most popular players – and they would befriend and do pretty much whatever they could to get any free agent players or younger newcomers who didn’t have a team? They wanted to stay on top, or had to stay on top, so they did what they had to. With the chance that Barcelona could find itself rolling with both Gasol bros, Real Madrid is going all out. They already have Serge Ibaka, Rudy Fernandez and Sergio Rodriguez. Now they want LaMarcus Aldridge… and Dwight Howard. Read More »
On a night where history was in the air, fans from the South, Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions flocked to the World’s Most Famous Arena to see four of the top teams in college basketball. As impressive as coach Mike Krzyzewski’s record breaking 903rd victory was, the night might have been overshadowed by the sheer dominance of the Kentucky Wildcats. I left Madison Square Garden last night dreaming about the potential of a Duke vs. Kentucky match-up. Read More »
After his postgame press conference on Tuesday night, Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski walked down the hall, ducked behind a partition and found himself face-to-face with a visual representation of his success.
Duke’s 74-69 victory over Michigan State was Krzyzewski’s 903rd victory, allowing him to usurp Bob Knight as college basketball’s all-time winningest coach. To celebrate the occasion, dozens of his former players had come together at Madison Square Garden, and Coach K found himself surrounded by a veritable “who’s who” of Duke basketball over the past 30 years. It doesn’t get too much better than having a JaVale McGee lockout diary. Amazingly, for all of the funny stuff he’s been known to do, in Part 1 that we showed y’all earlier this month, it was mostly about running on the beach and shedding light on McGee’s tattoos. Part 2 recently dropped as well, and this one is basically a look into the typical workout – jumping rope, lifting and abs – for one of the NBA’s most athletic centers.
Under Armour has been killing it all summer with commercials and tours, and Brandon Jennings is the perfect lockout pitchman. No, he’s not an All-Star (is the next season the year he finally gets into the conversation?) but the time off this offseason has shown how much he loves the game. Perhaps only Kevin Durant and John Wall can say the same. In this new ad, Jennings takes us back to his roots… Compton – “I’m from a place that says a thousand things in two syllables.” Hit the jump for one of the best commercials we’ve seen in a while. Coach K is a pretty cool dude. Always smooth. Always chill. But at about the 12.9 second mark of the second half last night – after he had seen Michigan State chip into Duke’s lead and Mason Plumlee get called for a five-second violation – he had to be feeling that sweat on his brow just a little bit. But after a Spartan miss, the biggest drama of the night was over, the Dukies had won 74-69 and Mike Krzyzewski had the record. He’s now the winningest coach in Division I men’s basketball history with 903 wins, passing one of the men calling the game, Bob Knight. Seriously though, this joint couldn’t have been scripted any better: in MSG, against another great coach in Tom Izzo, playing against a gritty and tough team, and with his mentor looking on, Coach K got what he came for. The dominoes are starting to fall pretty quickly. Barely 24 hours since the NBA season was put in jeopardy, it was reported that a team in China is going hard after Jamal Crawford to bring him over to play for them. Now, an even bigger story: Kevin Durant may agree to a deal with the Beko BBL club as soon as tomorrow. According to a SPOX.com article, Durant’s agent has called the German club out of the blue and both sides have been in serious contract negotiations since. Read More »
Back when life was simpler, there was no lockout and people actually cared about the dunk contest. Some still say Dominique Wilkins should’ve beaten Michael Jordan on this night.
So it looks like Terrence Williams is using his extra free time to do what we’re all doing, which is playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. But that’s just a small part of this intimate episode. Earlier this fall we introduced Poor Hungry Driven, a new web series starring the one and only Terrence Williams. In the third episode, T-Will and filmmaker T.J. Regan show you his life at home, including his son’s football championship.
