“Taco Dennis” banged three treys in a row in this blowout win over Milwaukee, a feat so shocking that even Scottie Pippen had to show him love. Actually, this January 1998 game was crazy all around. Glenn Robinson and Michael Jordan went back and forth, each dropping 44, while Luc Longley went for 24, nine and eight. I’m not joking.
Almost two months ago, we showed you LeBron James‘ ninth signature shoe, the Nike LeBron 9. Now, the folks at Nike Basketball have given it a whole new look. Introducing the “Miami Nights” edition, which is now available to purchase. Check it out: Read More »
No one is happy with the owners, least of all the players after the old guys basically told them recently “Here, we’ll give you two slices from this large buffalo chicken pizza, but if you don’t wash the dishes afterwards, next time you might only get the leftover crust.” Tomorrow is the most important day yet in the lockout, a chance for the players to (hopefully) vote and (hopefully… for our own selfish reasons) agree to a deal. If they don’t give the offer any consideration – which seems the most likely case – the sides will split further apart and the cancellations could eat up the majority of this season. Michael Jordan is in the middle of it all – finally – but as we called for him to get more involved, I don’t think the players expected him to do what he did.Read More »
Despite their success as a program, only 20 players that attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison have made it to the NBA. And until Alando Tucker makes it back in from the D-League, that leaves Devin Harris as the only current Badger representative. The other day, Harris and Michael Finley showed up to practice with this year’s Badger squad, and talked about the experience. Also, check out a lengthy interview with Finley after the jump.
*College basketball is here (unlike the NBA), and this year might be one of the best in recent memory. The powerhouse is back, while the Cinderellas believe. That’s a deadly combination. We know some of y’all have been asking for some previews. We have you covered – the top 16 teams in the nation will be previewed individually in the next few weeks. After we broke down Big East giant Syracuse earlier today, we’ll keep this going with No. 4-ranked UConn (ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll).*Read More »
Pardon the idiom, but John Wooden must be rolling over in his grave. Traditionally, college basketball has been about, well, tradition. It’s about banners. It’s about retired jerseys. It’s about legacy. But as we’ve seen ever since the NBA enacted it’s “one year removed” policy, college basketball has simply become a necessity for the one-percenters that need a place to play before entering the NBA Draft. And while college coaches have had to change their strategies while recruiting in this new climate, it was always believed that winning a national championship was still the goal. Apparently that’s no longer the case. Read More »

After going 29th overall to Phoenix in the 2007 NBA Draft, Alando Tucker has since played in 51 games for the Suns and T-Wolves. But with some time overseas under his belt, he’s decided to give the NBA another shot. Last week, the D-League’s Texas Legends drafted the 6-6 swingman with the second overall pick. Around that same time, he dropped this track off his forthcoming mixtape, Critical Thinking, set to beat of J.Cole‘s “Roll Call.”
Thank God for Steve Blake. The man who couldn’t hit a shot to save the Lakers’ season in the playoffs might just be bold enough to save the NBA season. Sam Amick and Adrian Wojnarowski broke the story on Twitter, saying Blake is doing whatever he can to rally the troops, and gain support for a vote by Wednesday. He’s irate at the union and wants to play. He’s not pushing them to take the deal; He just wants a vote. A few other players, and some big names like Kobe Bryant and LaMarcus Aldridge, are willing to look into this deal the owners are offering. Amick even said he called two agents who represent 19 players in total, and that every one of those players wanted to take the NBA’s deal. Read More »
