UCSB’s Orlando Johnson Is The Nation’s Best Kept Secret

Orlando Johnson

Santa Barbara is one of the more beautiful cities in America. Nestled on California’s shoreline, north of Los Angeles, “The American Riviera” has some of the best beaches in the state. The city is also home to the University of California-Santa Barbara (UCSB), whose campus is literally located right on the beach. For many students there, the beach is their second home right behind their dorm rooms. However, for Orlando Johnson, the shooting guard for the UCSB Gauchos, the beach is an afterthought; his second home is the team’s home arena. Read More »

Nick Swardson Questions The Logic Of NBA Team Names

I haven’t yet had the chance to hang out with many actors/comedians in my day, but I was lucky enough to kick it with Nick Swardson one night in L.A. And yes, he’s as funny as you’d think.

No Cinderella: Vanderbilt’s Hype Is Through The Roof

Jeffery Taylor

*College basketball is here (unlike the NBA), and this year might be one of the best in recent memory. The powerhouse is back, while the Cinderellas believe. That’s a deadly combination. We know some of y’all have been asking for some previews. We have you covered – the top 16 teams in the nation will be previewed individually in the next few weeks. After we broke down two upstarts yesterday, we’ll keep this going with No. 7-ranked Vanderbilt and No. 8-ranked Louisville later today (ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll).* Read More »

Jabari Parker

With the official start of the high school basketball season just over the horizon, we thought it was time to update HighSchoolHoop.com‘s rankings of the Top 50 Players in the Country.

Our rankings are simple: These are the Top 50 players in high school basketball, regardless of class. Read More »

Dwyane Wade Gives The Real Reason Why Miami Didn’t Win It All

Dwyane Wade

Did the Heat lose in the Finals last year because LeBron played like he was scared? Did they lose because J.J. Barea went off? Did they lose because Dirk did everything outside of morphing into Larry Bird to stop them? Dwyane Wade doesn’t believe any of that was the real reason they lost. The Heat lost because of misplaced emotion. Wade and his teammates wanted to win to spite people because so much of the public actively hated them. Public Enemy No. 1. Even Ice Cube in his heyday never felt this hated. And yet Wade told Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski on his radio show that the team was wrongly fueled by hate, and didn’t win the championship because of that. Do you buy it? Read More »

The NBA’s All-Tim Tebow Team

Tim Duncan

Whether it’s in a desperate come-from-behind win or a devastating blowout loss, Tebow-mania has officially swept over the nation. Perhaps no athlete with such miniscule professional experience has ever been as celebrated as much as the Mile High Messiah. Certainly not in basketball. J.J. Redick enjoyed some time as college’s nice guy as well as being a top player in the early-to-mid 2000s. Unfortunately for Redick, most fans weren’t too fond of him as Duke became equally as hated as the Miami Heat. Read More »

The Top 10 Playoff Plays From The 1990s Chicago Bulls

I’m not really sure what the basis of this video was because, look, if you put together a top 10 Chicago Bulls playoff plays, and the list doesn’t include MJ‘s Last Shot or his switch-in-the-air layup against the Lakers, then someone screwed up. Either way, it’s a dope video and I’m just glad they threw in Pippen‘s dunk that ended Washington’s season in 1997.
