Since their inception, we’ve been keeping you up-to-date with everything Above The Rim has been doing. And let me warn you: Lockout or no lockout, they’re bringing it for the 2011-12 season. With that said, check out the following spot featuring Martell Webster. After shooting him, Will Bynum and legendary streetballer Corey “Homicide” Williams in Chicago for this campaign, we can’t wait to see when the next spot drops. Also, be sure to check out some behind the scenes footage from the Windy City.
The best one-on-one player in the game? We thought we already answered this earlier this summer.Dime’s fanbase seemed to think Dirk Nowitzki would take home the top spot, but yet we can’t help but think that was a little bit of the championship hangover as well as crazed fans doing whatever they can to get him some extra votes. The Los Angeles Times recently interviewed some pretty big name players – Kevin Durant, John Wall, Matt Barnes and Trevor Ariza – and all of them except for Wall said in a game of one-on-one, Kobe Bryant would beat LeBron James. When the NBA released its schedule for the 2011-12 season back in July, we all got excited. I mean, who wouldn’t? A new season means a fresh start before any true delusions of grandeur set in. “Believe me, the T-Wolves could go 82-0!”“Why wouldn’t the Magic trade us Dwight Howard for Theo Ratliff?!”“I bet Blake Griffin will dunk from out of bounds this season.” Although I can’t tell you exactly who said these things, just know that they’ve all been said. Somewhere. But until a new collective bargaining agreement is in place, these conversations won’t be happening near an NBA area any time soon. Read More »
Kendrick Perkins wasn’t himself towards the end of last season, and he promised everyone that it’ll be different next year. The goal is to shed 20 pounds after the big man ballooned up to about 285. Judging off this video, Perkins looks really good, like ready to smash some heads. He’s definitely leaner around the waist, and seems to be lighter on his feet. OKC’s defense tailed off a bit last season from the year before, but if Perkins can regain his health and conditioning, we could be looking at the start of a juggernaut. If the video isn’t working, go here.
As you can imagine, when we’re not in the office, we’re out hooping. And some days, we’ll even bounce from Dime HQ to do just that. Now, once again thanks to our friends at AXE, after you’ve done your work on the court, you can proceed to do your work off of it. Read More »
Last week in New York City, our friends at Under Armour held an exclusive event to preview their new campaign, and to see the latest collection of UA Basketball footwear and apparel. But before the festivities began, I got the chance to catch up with Brandon Jennings and Derrick Williams and talk about everything from kicks to the NBA lockout. Read More »
Who’s the best football player in the NBA? It’s nearly impossible to say, even after what Kevin Durant did recently, playing ball with some frat kids. But what we can conclude is that Brandon Jennings’ flag football squad is the best team. After beating Nick Young‘s squad recently (check out the behind-the-scenes photos here), Jennings and AIS beat DeMar DeRozan, Corey Maggette and Matt Barnes‘ COMP10 team this weekend 70-63 to go to 5-0. It was controversial; the game should’ve ended on an earlier touchdown by Brandon Jennings, but COMP10 somehow called an illegal timeout during the middle of the play and AIS had to score all over again. Hit the jump for the rest of the behind-the-scenes photos. Read More »
*College basketball is here (unlike the NBA), and this year might be one of the best in recent memory. The powerhouse is back, while the Cinderellas believe. That’s a deadly combination. We know some of y’all have been asking for some previews. We have you covered – the top 16 teams in the nation will be previewed individually in the next few weeks. After we broke down a Wisconsin and their All-American earlier today, we’ll keep this going with No. 13-ranked Kansas (ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll).*Read More »
Personally, I’m not that big a fan of Halloween. And when it lands on a Monday, it seems like the holiday just never ends. With that said, I do love to see what costumes NBA players decide to wear, and after last year’s festivities, you might remember that some guys get all decked out. After the jump, check out the NBA’s best Halloween costumes from this year. Read More »
There were very few people in Dallas who could’ve been happier than Jason Terry was at the sight of an NBA championship. He’s been a Mav now for seven seasons, seven long seasons where Dallas was forever good but never quite dominant, never quite championship-level. They finally did it last spring as Terry shot 44 percent from deep in the playoffs and might’ve been the difference after he started giving Miami buckets later in the Finals. Read More »
