Two years ago, we came up with a great idea. As you know, Dime is a basketball lifestyle publication, so we are all about giving you guys an all-access pass into the lives of NBA players. Whether it’s showing you their cars, homes, tattoos or gear, we want to know. Today, adidas Basketball follows up their own “What’s In The Bag?” feature, this time starring Josh Smith. You might be surprised… Read More »

John Wall (photo. Michael Starghill)
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: One of the best things to come out of the NBA lockout was John Wall dominating every game he played. Everywhere. Thankfully, our friends at EliteMixtapes were there almost every step of the way. With that, check out his official lockout mixtape. Read More »

Well this just seems stupid. The Boston Celtics A) need to get younger and more athletic and B) need to use this upcoming free agency period to start the move into the future past the Paul Pierce/KG/Ray Allen Era. The last guy they should be looking to move is Rajon Rondo. Yet here we are. ESPN’s Chris Broussard is reporting that sources are telling him that Rondo could be on the block.
From a Broussard post filed early this morning: Read More »

As many pointed out on Twitter yesterday, if the Lakers got both Dwight Howard and Chris Paul, they might as well start the next lockout immediately. We aren’t trying to rain on anyone’s “end of the lockout” parade. Quite frankly, we don’t believe it’ll happen either. But it’s a thought, a thought that a few people in the business have. What if it just so happened that the Lakers didn’t just get Dwight Howard (a very real possibility), but they also nabbed CP3 as well? Howard has this weird fascination with following whatever Shaq did. He also wants to play with Kobe more than anyone else. He also loves warm weather. The Lakers also have assets up the a–. The Magic are also extremely worried – getting more nervous by the day – that Superman 2.0 will leave them just like the original did. Read More »

As Sean pointed out the other day, Under Armour has been killing it during the lockout with their new “Are You From Here?” campaign and tour. And in their latest vignette, a two-minute spot that premiered on SportsCenter the other night, UA follows Kemba Walker as he’s back home in Soundview and the other neighborhoods in The Bronx and NYC that helped him become who he is today. One thing was clear coming into this season of college hoops: the excitement was at a high not seen in about five years. For the first time since the 2006-2007 season, college basketball has a collection of talent that rivals nearly any other time before it. That season, talents like Greg Oden, Kevin Durant and Mike Conley all played their obligatory one year of college basketball before entering the NBA.
This year we have an impressive group of freshmen starting that same journey and numerous key figures from last year all returning for another year on campus. All of this talent has scouts flooding gyms across the country to see who is going to be the right guy for their team in the upcoming draft. Read More »

People can’t get enough of John Wall. Whether he’s killing in summer leagues – like dropping 55 points as he did in “The Big Payback” against the Drew League – or sitting at the edge of the list of future breakout stars, Wall is everywhere. He sneaker now is too. Wall’s second signature sneaker with Reebok, the Reebok Zig Encore has officially been released for the retail price of $115. As more details become available as to what’s included in the NBA’s new labor deal, one of the more interesting additions to the CBA is the so-called “amnesty clause,” where every team can waive one player and remove their salary from counting against the cap. While the player still gets paid, jettisoning a player in this fashion would help franchises create cap space or simply save on potential luxury tax expenditures. While the early names to surface have been Gilbert Arenas (3 years, $62.4 million), Rashard Lewis (2 years, $46 million) and Baron Davis (2 years, $28.8 million) owing to their onerous remaining contracts, one name that may have you surprised is that of three-time All-Star Brandon Roy. This guy… One thing you can say about Shaq is he knows how to market himself and make money. Maybe all those years where he tried to explain his feud with Kobe Bryant as “simply business,” maybe he wasn’t really lying after all. The “high-level juvenile delinquent,” as he describes himself, held nothing back in his new book called “Shaq Uncut: My Story.” He attacked pretty much everyone who mattered in his basketball life, but probably none more so than Bryant.
