The Black Sheep Of The Lockout: The NBA Draft & The Age Rule

Kevin Garnett

Lost amongst the back and forth of the lockout, the BRI, the mid-level and the luxury tax is a “system issue” with the chance to change the landscape of professional basketball. It’s hardly mentioned and yet has more potential to affect our game than 51/49 or three-year mid-level contracts instead of five years. The age rule. One vs. two years. High school prodigies and seasoned college vets. It might not happen, but we know the owners and David Stern want it: to increase the already restricting age limit to 20 years old, or two years in college. Read More »

‘Melo, D-Wade, LeBron & CP3 Putting Together A Star NBA Tour

Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Chris Paul

The last time we were supposed to have some type of world basketball tour, we had denials and confirmations, we had a long list of All-Stars agreeing on playing, we had a schedule and we had the first night all planned out. Then we ended up with nothing. But LeBron James, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony – four of the biggest stars in the world – are teaming up to try again. They’re planning on putting together a four-city homecoming tour of their respective cities: Akron, New Orleans, Chicago, and New York, starting December 1. We just want to see one of these ideas come to fruition. Too many heartbreaks and cancellations this year … Read More »

Griffin Lentsch

Maybe the adidas adiZero Crazy Light really is the lightest basketball shoe ever. I mean, Grinnell College junior Griffin Lentsch laced ‘em up on Saturday and dropped 89 points. We Reminisce: Elton Brand’s Lost Season

Elton Brand

We take enough shots at the Clippers. When you have a racist owner – someone who heckles his own star players – then you deserve it. But we can still show love to perhaps the only good thing L.A.’s JV team has done in the past 20 years outside of drafting Blake Griffin. Elton Brand might’ve had all of Philly ready to sucker punch him these past three years, but during the 2005-06 season, he was a fantasy kingpin. 24.7 points a night. 10 boards. 2.5 blocks every game. Those are Tim Duncan numbers. Those are “get on my back” numbers. Those are “I’m blowing up in the world” numbers. Read More »

Who’s Better: Jeremy Lamb Or Terrence Ross?

Jeremy Lamb

Separated by nearly the entire country, two Huskies of different breeds are making a name for themselves in college basketball this season. In very different ways both Terrence Ross (Washington) and Jeremy Lamb (Connecticut) are seeking to prove they can be the leader of the pack for their respective teams.

Debating who is better between Ross and Lamb seems to be an inevitable conversation. The similarities are clearly there as both are athletic wings and Huskies, but of a very different breed. Read More »

Monday Madness: College Basketball’s Weekend In Review

Scoop Jardine

OK, college football, you got this one.

Responding to a week of college basketball that started strong with ESPN’s 24-hour tip-off marathon, then got scandalous with news of a potential catastrophe at Syracuse, the gridiron guys regained the spotlight with some Top-5 upsets and plenty of down-to-the-wire thrillers.

But even though college hoops took a comfortable backseat to the BCS, NFL and NASCAR, that doesn’t mean it was uneventful. Here are the best and worst of the weekend: Read More »

Michael Jordan

The driving force behind NBA 2K12 was that it allowed you to determine, once and for all, the greatest player of all time. Now, with the downloadable content add-on “Legends Showcase,” you have 45 new NBA greats to choose from, and this time, the battle is going down in the center of Times Square.
