Raymond Taylor (photo. Florida Atlantic University)
Before this video, I had no idea who Raymond Taylor was. Never heard of him. Couldn’t put a game to the face either. So I did some research and found out he plays for Florida Atlantic University – not exactly a hot bed of talent, but D-I nonetheless – and is a 5-6 junior point guard this season. Need more? He averaged 14 and six as a freshman, the six assists a game (technically it was 5.9) good for 11th in the nation (which is hilarious viewing some of the top YouTube comments where idiots claim a guy like this is one of the worst types to play with because he won’t pass). Through 11 games so far this year, he’s averaging 9.5 points and 5.5 dimes a night. But all that isn’t really why you clicked on this story is it? Read More »

Nick Young wanted his money and no one gave it to him. He wanted to be appreciated and loved, and all he got instead were text messages and pictures of his empty locker stall from JaVale McGee and Andray Blatche. Maybe all his suitors were scared of his free-wheeling style or his penchant for jacking fadeaways. Maybe the hair was all that was needed to turn them off. However you cut it, Young struck out in free agency and had to come crawling back to Washington with his tail between his legs to accept the Wizards one-year qualifying offer of $3.7 million. What made Mike D’Antoni and the Phoenix Suns such a threat in the Western Conference was the fact that he had an arsenal of shooters at his disposal. But when D’Antoni first arrived in New York, his best three-point threat was Al Harrington. That’s not good. Last year, Toney Douglas was the only player on the Knicks to hit more than 100 three-pointers, finishing the season with 143. They also had sharpshooter Andy Rautins on the roster, but never used him. Finally, it appears D’Antoni has found his man. Read More »

Everyone wants to talk about super teams. Of course, the Heat, Knicks, Clippers, Celtics and all the rest of ‘em capture the imagination of the NBA fan base. There’s nothing quite like feeling the anticipation and excitement in the air when you see that news hit telling you Chris Paul has finally been traded and he’s going to the Clippers. What immediately follows is typically more invigorating than what eventually happens. The promise of what could be is almost always better than what is. Even here at Dime, we find ourselves talking about one third of the NBA about 80 percent of the time. That doesn’t mean we don’t care about everyone else. Read More »

A year after announcing on ESPNU as an Oakland High School senior that he would play college basketball at Oregon, heralded guard Jabari Brown appears to have chosen his next destination in a quieter fashion Monday.

A lot of people made fun of us for talking the Clippers up, but what can you say? When you’re younger, more athletic, things just come easier. That’s just the way it is and as much as we love the game, as much as we love Kobe and Pau and the accolades they’ve won in the past, if you can’t see the Clippers are poised to take that crown than you are losing it. Or you just have more faith in the Lakers’ front office than we do. The Clippers let their big brother hang around for a while, and then in the second half they turned it up to a level the old heads couldn’t keep up with. 114-95, the Clippers ended up winning with Chauncey Billups (23 points) and Chris Paul (17 points, nine assists, five steals) doing the most damage, dominating the Laker guards at times … Read More »

We don’t blame you if you have tuned out the Dwight Howard trade saga. It’s been going on for weeks now and it seems to change every day. Actually, a bunch of readers have told us they’re not paying attention until it actually happens. We may be at that point.
Our friends at Lakers Nation posted a report tonight that Lakers play-by-play announcer John Ireland has been told by a source that the deal for Howard could be done as early as tomorrow (Tuesday). Now before you laugh or blow it off Read More »
