We Reminisce: Peja Stojakovic In His Prime

Peja Stojakovic

An era is finished. Peja Stojakovic, long one of the NBA’s greatest outside shooters, is calling it quits. The former All-Star in Sacramento is retiring on top after a championship last season with Dallas because of a string of back and neck problems. While I didn’t exactly rejoice in the Mavs finally getting over the hump, it was great to see a few of their more noteworthy vets get a ring. And yet, no one seems to be talking about Peja. Rick Adelman Unleashes The Wolves

Kevin Love

“He’s going to empower players to be as good as you want and he’s going to give you enough rope to hang yourself.”

Chris Webber has earned his keep in broadcasting. He’s smart, fair and usually honest. But he’s never said something before that fit so perfectly. C-Webb knows Rick Adelman as well as any NBA player in the league, perhaps of all time. He paired with Adelman in the summer of 1998, Webber being banished from Washington for reasons that had more to do with his off-the-court issues than anything else, and quickly became the De Niro to Adelman’s Scorsese. Where Are They Now: Voshon Lenard

Voshon Lenard

It’s been a minute since we’ve done a Where Are They Now? feature on the site, and this one kind of just fell into our laps. After 11 years in the NBA, playing for the likes Miami, Denver, Toronto and Portland, Voshon Lenard was definitely one of my favorite players to watch. But now instead of draining threes, it appears the Three-Point Shootout champion from the 2004 NBA All-Star Weekend is working with Captain Morgan. Read More »

Dime’s 2011-12 NBA Preview: The Atlantic Division

Rajon Rondo

Everyone wants to talk about super teams. Of course, the Heat, Knicks, Clippers, Celtics and all the rest of ‘em capture the imagination of the NBA fan base. There’s nothing quite like feeling the anticipation and excitement in the air when you see that news hit telling you Chris Paul has finally been traded and he’s going to the Clippers. What immediately follows is typically more invigorating than what eventually happens. The promise of what could be is almost always better than what is. Even here at Dime, we find ourselves talking about one third of the NBA about 80 percent of the time. That doesn’t mean we don’t care about everyone else. Read More »

Gilbert Arenas’ Christmas List: Heat, Lakers, Knicks Or Dwight

Gilbert Arenas

The fact that Gilbert Arenas is still a free agent says a lot about the direction the NBA is headed. No longer does talent alone guarantee you a spot amongst the NBA’s elite – just ask Allen Iverson. So after clearing waivers, Arenas waits in limbo until a team brave enough takes a chance on the 29-year-old guard. And Santa‘s already received a letter with Gil’s preferred destinations. The NBA’s Most Bizarre Training Camp Injury

Manny Harris

Promising Cleveland Cavaliers guard Manny Harris knows that he can contribute to the team, he just needs to be on the floor. Unfortunately, that’s probably not going to happen for at least two weeks because Harris is in the same condition as the old hamburger meat in the back of your freezer.

Harris is sidelined with what is being called “freezer burn.” Read More »

The NBA’s Top 5 Frontcourts

Amar'e Stoudemire

I’ll be honest with you. I’m waiting on Tyson Chandler to not live up to this new contract. It seems inevitable: big man who has career year at 29 years old, finds himself in a perfect situation, plays great D and rebounds but has it magnified because his team finally got through the West and won a title (seriously, if Dallas loses in the Western playoffs, is anyone talking about how great Chandler is right now?). Take it for face value: a 29-year-old, injury prone big man who’s coming off BY FAR the best year of his career, a guy who’s been incredibly up and down throughout his career was just given $56 million to come save the defense in the world’s most crazed media market.
