“It’s going to be Lob City.”
That is the first full sentence that DeAndre Jordan can get himself to put together once his agent called him with the news that the Clippers had pulled off last night’s Chris Paul trade.
Cameras caught this live reaction of Blake Griffin, DeAndre and Caron Butler at a community service event at an L.A.-area school. I love how genuinely excited these guys are about getting the best PG in the game: Read More »

Okay, so let’s recap. First, Chris Paul was going to be a Laker, to team up with Kobe and start a domino effect that would eventually land Dwight Howard in Hollywood and reconfigure the world. Then Dan Gilbert donned his five-year-old cap again, David Stern took the advice of Stu Jackson – only the worst basketball GM ever – to cancel the deal, and it was voided. Then the Clippers came swooping in with the best offer you could possibly hope for to get a 26-year-old point guard who already has knee issues. Read More »

Finally, Chris Paul is dealt away from the Hornets. On Wednesday night, the Clippers agreed to a deal where L.A. gets Paul and two future second-round picks, while New Orleans gets Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesota’s unprotected 2012 first-round pick. Here’s a quick list of the fantasy implications: Read More »

There was probably more than a good reason the Hornets held Chris Paul out of Media Day today in New Orleans, and now we know. According to multiple outlets, the NBA has reached an agreement to trade CP3 to the Clippers for Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesota’s unprotected 2012 first-round pick. Choosing a number is something very special in the NBA, and oftentimes very challenging depending on what team you land with. Having to navigate the current roster and that franchise’s retired jerseys, you might not get to sport the number you’ve been wearing since high school. With that, check out all the numbers that the NBA’s incoming rookies will be wearing this season: Read More »

LeBron James has been up to a lot of things this offseason, but perhaps none are more interesting than handing out Sheets to random people. Beginning today, Sheets Brand Energy Strips will be starting a highly publicized advertising campaign through the Sheets Facebook page. Entrants will have 45 days to submit their own creative take on Sheets and the winning commercial will have their spot aired on national television and in movie theaters nationwide in 2012. LeBron tried his hand on what it means to take a Sheet. Check out the hilarious video below. Read More »

The two guard is the most glamorous position in basketball. You can thank Michael Jordan for that. Every kid of my generation grew up wanting to play the two, rock a sweatband on the left elbow, wear baggy shorts and the number 23, and we all thought we’d grow up to be 6-6. Power players may traditionally determine who’s got the juice, but shooting guards are nearly as important. The very best can create shots anywhere on the floor, and routinely finish games by getting shots in the closing moments. These are normally the very best athletes in the world; graceful, but still powerful… explosive, but still finesse. No one has the same combination of jaw-dropping athleticism and phenomenal ball skills the greatest shooting guards wield. Read More »

Since introducing you to Under The Armour, we’ve seen Brandon Jennings do pretty much everything except play an actual NBA game. In the season finale, Jennings arrives in New York City as part of the “Are You From HERE?” tour. In-between games, Brandon spends some time in the lab with Ryan Leslie and stops by HOT 97. Over the course of his 16-year career, Theo Ratliff played for nine different franchises (and two of them twice). But with the 2011-12 NBA season set to start on Christmas Day, the 38-year-old free agent will be watching from home. A league source told Dime on Wednesday afternoon that Ratliff is retiring. The Orlando Magic have two things that no other team involved in the Dwight Howard Sweepstakes have at the moment: Dwight Howard and time. At least for right now. The clock is ticking (the trade deadline will be here before we know it), but the Magic are choosing to be picky in their demands for Howard – as they should be.
The latest news being reported is that Orlando’s on-again, off-again dialogue with the New Jersey Nets (and multiple other teams), is that conversations are dead – for now – despite the Nets’ most recent offer of a monster collection of assets. Read More »
