Chris Paul didn’t show out as often as John Wall, LeBron James or Brandon Jennings did this offseason, but he still had his moments, including hosting the game that produced the most insane highlights we saw throughout the entire lockout. Sometimes watching CP play point guard, you begin to realize why the Lakers were willing to give up two seven footers (basically) to get him. He’s that special. Hoopmixtape brought the goods again on this one, so hit the jump to check it out. Thank God we found this video before it was blocked by David Stern. Read More »

No matter what you heard this week, all signs pointed to Glen Davis not returning to Boston after last season. And now it appears to be official. According to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports, the Celtics are sending Davis in a sign-and-trade to Orlando for Brandon Bass. Read More »

Our readers are an incredibly passionate, opinionated, basketball savvy (usually) family. We love it, even when they’re telling us how terrible we are in comment sections.
This morning, when we posted the unfortunate news about Brandon Roy likely being forced into medical retirement, we were taken back by the instant outpouring of love for B-Roy from our readers, specifically on our our Facebook page. The reactions were swift. Check out the reactions: Read More »

Sorry Knicks fans, but you lose again. While New York was Grant Hill‘s first choice, the Knicks lost their $5 million mid-level exception in the forthcoming Tyson Chandler deal. And although they looked into a sign-and-trade with the Suns, Hill isn’t going anywhere. According to Paul Coro of The Arizona Republic, Hill agreed today to re-sign with the Suns for a one-year, $6.5 million contract. Read More »

Right now, David Stern is Public Enemy No. 1. As he should be. And honestly, I don’t really know how to feel about the NBA as a whole. Basketball reasons? Really? It’s simply incomprehensible. And while the players involved in yesterday’s three-team trade have it worst of all heading into training camp today, having to answer questions about personnel decisions that they had nothing to do with, everyone that loves the game has a sour taste in their mouth. And thankfully, someone from the inside feels the same as we do. Read More »

Under Armour Basketball has been rolling out individual TV spots from their tremendous “Are You From HERE?” campaign with their guys over the last few weeks (Watch Brandon Jennings’ here, Kemba Walker’s here and Derrick Williams’ here).

Last season, there were two holes on the Heat roster surrounding Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh: point guard and center. And while they had some serviceable pieces, they were always looking to upgrade. At center, they tried Juwan Howard, Erick Dampier and Jamaal Magloire. That didn’t work, and it’s unlikely that any of those guys (except maybe Howard) will return. At point guard, a late-season acquisition of Mike Bibby was supposed to be the answer, but ask J.J. Barea how that turned out. So with just Eddie House and rookie Norris Cole on the roster at the PG spot, it appears Miami has turned to a familiar face to handle the rock. Read More »

Take a deep breath for me. Today is getting crazier by the hour. After the news that technically became non-news that helped turn it into the biggest news of the past year in the NBA, now we have some sad news on top of it.
Just a few moments ago, Chris Broussard tweeted this: Sources say Brandon Roy to announce medical retirement due to degenerative knees, possibly as soon as today. Wow. Can we steal your wording Chris Paul? Yes, everyone knew about Roy’s physical condition: three major knee surgeries within the past year and a half. Everyone knew Portland was thinking about using the amnesty clause on him. Yet retirement for a 27-year-old is always surprising. Read More »

Cavs owner Dan Gilbert was so pissed when he found out about the Lakers/Chris Paul deal, he apparently immediately fired off a strongly-worded letter to NBA Commissioner David Stern protesting the deal.
As our dude Dan Wetzel tweeted, “Dan Gilbert email to Stern is so angry you can practically hear the comic sans.”
Here it is in its entirety: Read More »

Last night’s unraveling of the Three-Team Chris Paul-to-the-Lakers trade will have far-reaching consequences both immediately and down the road. From the ire and potential training camp no-shows of some of the players involved, to the further setback of the Hornets franchise (Outside of a Rajon Rondo deal, that haul of players was probably the best deal they were going to get for Chris Paul), the effects will be felt for a long time.
It’s particularly crushing for the Los Angeles Lakers, who for now are out on CP3 AND Dwight Howard, their masterplan coming apart right before their eyes. Late last night reports surfaced that once the CP trade dissolved, Dwight immediately focused his sights on the Nets. Read More »
