In the words of the man himself (Chris Paul), “Wow.” What in the locked-out world just happened? The afternoon created as much conversation as we’ve seen around a move since “The Decision” and yet just a few short hours later, it was over and nothing had happened. In case you’ve been out of it for the past 16 or so hours, a huge trade was agreed upon between the Lakers, Hornets and Rockets where the Lakers ended up with CP, the Rockets with Pau Gasol and New Orleans would’ve gotten Lamar Odom, Luis Scola, Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic, and a 2012 first-round pick that came from the Knicks. Chances are Jamaal Tinsley was going to be the first Gatorade Call-Up of the 2011-12 NBA Development League season, but the Jazz beat ‘em to the punch. According to Brian T. Smith of The Salt Lake Tribune, Utah has signed the veteran point guard, and he’ll be in SLC tomorrow when training camp opens. Read More »
Why am I posting this when everyone in the world is talking about Chris Paul? Because Keyon Dooling and Ray Allen are now teammates. According to Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe, the Celtics have acquired Dooling in exchange for a second-round pick. And for those of you that don’t remember, Dooling (Magic) and Allen (Sonics) got into an infamous fight during a game in 2006.
Did you feel that? Maybe it was another earthquake here in San Francisco, but I’m pretty sure I just felt the ground shake. It’s either that, or the Lakers are about to pull off the biggest blockbuster since Carmelo Anthony landed in New York. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Hornets are near a deal to send Chris Paul to the Lakers for Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom, and have started to inform teams that it’s happening. Read More »
Someone has to pay for Tyson Chandler, right? It looks like that someone in New York will be Chauncey Billups. With the Knicks apparently very close to signing Chandler, they need money for the deal with the Tyson, while still setting themselves up for a Chris Paul move [click here for what that might look like].
That leaves Mr. Billups to be either traded or waived as a victim of the Knicks’ Amnesty Clause. While Chauncey is reportedly not the least bit happy about today’s developments, it might end up working out for him in Miami. Read More »

Too bad Chicago. And San Antonio. You’ve lost out on a potential swingman who can play defense, make plays off the dribble and won’t screw you in any particular way. You’ve lost out on him to… the Los Angeles Clippers? As my main man Aron Phillips likes to say: “They never sign anyone.” But David Aldridge tweeted just a few moments ago that Caron Butler will sign with the L.A. Clippers for three years and $24 million, and its been confirmed by multiple sources. The question is: is this too little, too late? Read More »
Is Isiah Thomas still running New York? This sort of feels like it. Reports have been coming in all afternoon about the Knicks sweeping in from under a couple of West Coast teams’ legs and possibly stealing prized big man Tyson Chandler. Now, ESPN.com reports one source with knowledge said: “It’s 98 percent sure that Tyson is going to wind up with the Knicks.” During a crazy period, which got even crazier once we found out Mark Cuban was going to break up the core group for the NBA champions, this might be the craziest move of all. Why? It really feels like just the tip of the iceberg. Read More »
