The Top 10 NBA Superstar Trades With The Largest Impact

Kevin Garnett

It is pretty rare when an elite superstar, a player at the top of their game, is traded off by a team. Circumstances have to reach a boiling point where the team is not going anywhere or the player sees greener pastures and nothing will stop that fixation. In the NBA today, superstars (and those who think they are superstars) are all built the same. If their team has not won a championship or when they see their friends winning them in a brief amount of time, they see it as a need for a new setting. Read More »

Chris Bosh Drops The Hammer On All Of Charlotte

Chris Bosh

While I’m not a fan of whatever that celebration was, I guess Chris Bosh boomed hard enough in the lane during a tight game to do whatever he wanted. He earned it. For someone who’s constantly ridiculed for being soft, Bosh has had some dunking gems throughout his career. This could be right up there with any of them. Hit the jump for the proof. Read More »

Miami’s Big 3 Combine For The Best Play Of The Season

LeBron James

Sometimes teammates come together to make a play so spectacular and difficult that you can’t get over it even hours later. Funny thing about Dwyane Wade and LeBron James is that they’ve done this before – remember the football field touchdown pass Wade threw to LeBron in Indiana last season? This one might’ve been even better: Chris Bosh starting it all with a big block at the rim and then James chasing it down and somehow saving it with a 70-foot pass. We’re still not sure if he saw Wade beforehand or not. Hit the jump for the video. Read More »

The Thunder Win A Playoff Rematch; Dwyane Wade Is The Closer

Dwyane Wade

Who would’ve ever thought the most exciting game of the season would happen in Charlotte? The Bobcats dominated with energy in the first half as the Heat gave up 58 percent shooting and 60 points. But the real fireworks came late. LeBron James (35 points) had the best dunk ever that wasn’t, slamming a backdoor cut so hard that the ball hit a dude in the head and came back up and threw the net, as well as a ridiculous double-pump reverse IN THE LANE. Chris Bosh (25 points) had a monster smash down the lane that Michael Jordan probably felt from the bench, and finally Dwyane Wade (10 points) made the game-winning shot in the closing seconds to send the Heat out with a 96-95 comeback win. The Team Everyone Loves Vs. The Team Everyone Forgot About

Chris Paul

You can’t fault America for disregarding an old team that lost in the first round last season. Since then, so much has happened in basketball that I doubt too many casual fans even realize the Spurs ran away with the Western Conference during 2010-11′s first 82 games. It took the new monarchs of Los Angeles all of one preseason quarter to take the torch from Miami as the new season’s most interesting group of newcomers. Chris Paul aka John Williams. Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan redefining the basic psychics of the game. Chauncey Billups playing with a controlled rage aimed at the entire basketball nation. But the Spurs showed Monday in their 95-82 revenge win against Memphis that balding heads aren’t bringing them to retirement homes and Saturday afternoon black-and-white cowboy reruns just yet. The two teams are ready to size each other up. They get their first taste tonight. Read More »

Heir Jordan: MJ’s Sons Let You Walk In Their Shoes

Heir Jordan

In case you didn’t already know, Michael Jordan‘s two sons – Marcus Jordan and Jeff Jordan – both play basketball at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Marcus, a junior, leads the Knights (8-3) in scoring with 17.1 points per game. Jeff, a senior transfer from Illinois, plays over 24 minutes off the bench. Together, along with the help of senior point guard A.J. Rompza (who we profiled in Dime #63), they are launching a new website titled Heir-Jordan.com in 2012. After watching the following trailer, we’re pretty sure you’re going to want to bookmark this site. Read More »

A Dime Q&A With Lamont Peterson: The Man Who Made Tyreke Evans

Tyreke Evans

When I first met Tyreke Evans five years ago, I came away unsure that the 6-foot-6 high school sophomore could dunk.

I mean, he could dunk – at his height, with natural athleticism and arms long enough to box with God, he could definitely get himself above the rim – but next to the aerial showmanship of Class of 2008 peers such as DeMar DeRozan, Willie Warren, Devin Ebanks and even little Brandon Jennings, Tyreke’s arsenal of jams was like Duck Hunt compared to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. During an afternoon-long photo shoot for the cover of Dime #24, Tyreke wowed me with 30-foot jump shots. But when he was asked to dunk on camera for some mid-air shots, the letdown was jarring. Russell Westbrook Has Air Jordan III Roller Skates

Russell Westbrook

The first patented roller skate was introduced in 1760 by a Belgian named John Joseph Merlin. Over 250 years later, Russell Westbrook has completely changed the game. When he’s not breaking other people’s ankles, look for Westbrook gliding around in a pair of his custom Air Jordan III roller skates. Read More »

The Top 10 Backup Point Guards In The NBA

Mo Williams

About halfway into the fourth quarter last night, Norris Cole had everyone in the building and all who were watching on national television wondering Who Dat? By the end of the night, Cole was the hero and he had national columnists asking the following morning if straight up, we were really going to love him forever… or was it just a hit and run? Is he for real? In just his second game as a pro, Cole dropped 14 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter, didn’t shy away at all from the big shot and unlike the starter, Mario Chalmers, he stayed within his game, not constantly dribbling into the lane and turning it over.
