Chris Bosh Is The Closer; Carmelo Scores 1 Point, Knicks Still Win

Chris Bosh

If you’re LeBron, what’s the point? He could afford to be passive last night because Chris Bosh was getting busy in the fourth quarter of Miami’s 92-85 win over Cleveland. Kyra Sedgwick went off for 17 fourth quarter points, and had two of the biggest buckets of the game: a three-point play off the dribble and then a pull-up J in the closing minutes. His two free throws with 55 seconds left put Miami up eight, icing the win. It wasn’t so much that Bosh didn’t get help. ‘Bron had 18. But Bosh took the Cavs’ best punches all night, drawing foul after foul and finishing everything. He had 35 points, missed only six shots and made all 14 of his freebies. That was his fourth 30-point game of this season, which happened to be the same amount he had last year over the entire season … Are any two teammates more polar opposites than Andy Varejao and Kyrie Irving? It’s hilarious. On one possession in the third, Varejao (11 points, 11 rebounds) got an offensive rebound, dribbled in a circle, lost it down by his legs and then did a “stop, drop and roll” somersault. Irving (17 points) got it later in the possession, and perfectly placed a runner off the glass. Smooth … Alonzo Gee had a baseline dunk with just over three minutes left where he went right over Udonis Haslem‘s head. Haslem might’ve blocked that if he still had braids. It was the eight dunk of the night for Cleveland, a record against Miami this year … Dwight Howard (14 points) became the Magic’ all-time scoring leader last night on a third quarter dunk in Orlando’s 102-83 win in Indiana, passing Nick Anderson. It was the Pacers first home loss of the season, and it came not through the force of Howard but because no one wanted to check Ryan Anderson (24 points, eight rebounds) … Toronto came into the desert with 14 consecutive losses to the Suns, and left with a three-point W because Andrea Bargnani (36 points) styled on ‘em all night. Il Mago started dropping bombs in the third, scoring 11 barely four minutes into the quarter. After another trey with under three minutes to go, he had already stacked up 18 in the frame. You know a shooter has it rolling when the ball isn’t hitting anything but the bottom of the back rim. It’s not even a splash. The net doesn’t even move. That was Bargnani in the third quarter last night. “Basketball just isn’t fair when you’ve got a seven footer shooting it two feet beyond the arc,” the color guys said … Late in the game, despite some near heroics from Steve Nash (17 points, 14 dimes), Phoenix just couldn’t get that one big three they needed to fall. And every time they had to get a stop, Bargnani handed them another bucket … The Raptors still suck, but Bargnani HAS to get some All-Star love. He’s scoring nearly 23 with 6.5 glass cleans a night, and in the East once you get past the top seven or so, there haven’t been many players deserving of a spot … Keep reading to hear about Carmelo’s worst night as a Knick …

SKIP TO MY LOU aka rafer alston IS SEEKING A RETURN TO THE NBA. he is currently looking in to the d-league. a few teams would love to have his 3 point accuracy, band handleness to run plays, veteran knowledge etc. but he is old. but hey, he better than mike bibby!

I read somewhere that Kobe likes Mike Brown because they’re both workaholics and are at the facility pretty much around the clock so they end up talking strategy all the time.

You either dislike kobe or not, but he’s winning some people over, myself included, this year purely on his compete level and playing through injuries. I’m not sure its smart to battle these injuries all year instead of resting for the playoffs, but you can’t help but admire his desire to play.

  • http://datpiff.com beiber newz

yes, kobe is a force. i to the point anytime i see a player sit out with a hurt toe or sore ankle i’m asking myself “are you serious?” kobe has defied injury and is getting me to think he has an infinite threshold. i hear deng is going to miss weeks with a similar injury kobe has now. 2 weeks in a condensed season, wow. i dunno. kobe is a different beast. he aint taking 2 weeks off anytime soon.

I can’t see Brown and Kobe talking strat all the time. How would that conversation go?

Kobe: Ok, Mike, this is what is up. I’m going to dribble the ball down, wait until I have two defenders on me, then jack up a fade away that will go in because I’m Kobe.

Mike: I don’t know about that, we have two guys who are pretty good, both 7 feet tall. Maybe we can pass to them on the post and have some cutters run through while they go to work?

Kobe: Did you say pass? *death stare*

    Mike dies.

i love how just this offseason people were calling:

    pau soft
bynum not really that good, many centers better than him
    no bench, no help

but now people want to take kobe out the equation? sounds like bandwagon observers.

  • Mt. Pleasant

    Control

    Yeah, you’re right.

Maybe its just hours of drawing up different plays for Kobe?

  • http://datpiff.com beiber newz

maybe it’s just hours of drawing pictures period.

  • http://datpiff.com beiber newz

    LMAO @ The Hardy Boys

I hope someone figures out how to ban these fools..

205 posts and 90 are bball related

  • http://datpiff.com beiber newz

    does that one count ^

  • LakeShow84

#210 was kinda funny too lmao

  • http://datpiff.com beiber newz

i thought writing 210 would amuse someone. imagine if they are in an office at 3am before a critical game with a box of crayola crayons fighting over aquamarine blue.

  • http://datpiff.com beiber newz

i said a while back i think kyrie irving will get rookie of the year. i get to watch him against the knicks today. should be fun to see him on the court against one of my favorite teams.

  • Big Island

Oh what the hell is going on here?!?!? Sporty, if you read this, welcome back dude. I can honestly say it is a better place with you here.

And I hope Angela Lansbury’s at Dime figure out a way to shut out the bs.

I wish that UVerse still had the damn NBA channels on, there are like 8 games I want to watch.

  • catdaddywhack

LOL. Shit, 200+ posts and half of them claim to be fake…

Time to bring out Dime’s own Kyra Sedgwick and close this.

  • LABaller

I’m pretty sure that isn’t even the real sporty j. I don’t know which posts are real anymore?! Ahhhhhh!! This shit cray. What she order? Oh wait, this isn’t bball related huh? Lol..

I’m still stuck on my stance.. We need a scorer off the bench. We have no sixth man. Let’s bring in arenas. He’ll do well enough against the second squad of any team. Dude can get buckets. Put offense is trash. He has a point to prove and should have a chip on his shoulder w how everyone is saying he’s nothin. That’s what they told him before his career even started, hence the 0 on his jersey cause that’s what he was told he’d avg in the NBA. Point is, clearly he has a lot of pride and a couple of guns too.. Should do just fine in LA. Any other laker fan agree w me on this? Couple of my boys think I’m crazy for even suggesting it

  • UncheckedAggression

I have no idea if it was really him, but Sporty J showed up on the opening of the season and said a thing or two. Woulda been strange for someone to fake him at that time and not follow up on it until now.

I’m pretty annoyed at how many games I have to miss through league pass broadband because they are nationally televised. I want to watch this Bulls game.

  • hett24

I’m getting tired of people comparing Deng and Kobe and saying Deng’s soft for sitting out. How can someone who was 4th in minutes played last year and 2nd this year before his injury be soft? The reason he sitting and Kobe is playing is because of the difference in depth between the two teams. The Bulls are so deep that if one player gets hurt they have someone else on the bench who can step up whereas the Lakers wouldn’t make the playoffs without Kobe even if he playing hurt. Kobe at 50% is still the Lakers best player and gives them their only chance at making the playoffs.

    laballer

arenas will be very nice off the bench for the lakers. but i was thinking about some other names that some guys are not talking about that the lakers can surely use if they play up to expectations.

    defensively i like two players:
    1)keith bogans and
    2)james posey
both guys can guard the 2 and the 3 and can knock down three pointers in the clutch. they wont be looking for their shots so they won’t disrupt offense, but if left wide open, they can knock down the 3 with consistency.

athletically speaking, another two guys i like for the lakers would be
    3)jamario moon and
    4)al thornton
both guys bring slashing potential, and thornton is by far the better offensive player. but he is at times selfish, so i don’t know how he would fit playing with kobe. yet, keeping thornton on the second unit will be better and he would probably be la’s best scorer and he can get steals here and there. moon is nice because he can knock down the three and is a sneaky smart player.

a big man the lakers should definitely consider is
    5)joel pryzbilla and
    6)krylo fesenko.
fesenko is a big body that caught my eye when he was with the jazz. he clogs the paint, can hit around the inside and will alter shots. bringing him off thebench would be amazing for the lakers. pryzbilla is good because he adds size, shot blocking ability and rebounding relief when pau and bynum are on the bench.

some other available free agents that come to mind that i would like to see on the lakers but feel won’t get playing time are
    7)eddie house for threes
8)earl boykins for scoring and change of pace at the pg
9)leon powe for low post scoring, hustle, offensive rebounding

and just to make a list that has 10 people, why not throw in…wait for it…..rafer alston? like i mentioned earlier today he is looking to get back into the nba.

there are still some serviceable free agents out there. and the lakers should look into making some moves.

gilbert arenas should be first in mind. if he ends up on the miami heat i’ll be pissed.
