Derrick Rose Gets Revenge Against Indiana; Kendrick Perkins Does The Unexpected

Kendrick Perkins

Kendrick Perkins

Russell Westbrook had 24 and Kevin Durant added 22, and in the second half OKC kept pushing Dallas’ head under water. Yet the Mavs continuously responded. Dirk (27 points) hit a trio of treys in the second half of the fourth quarter to finally put the visitors back in the driver’s seat. But for perhaps the first time all year, Kendrick Perkins (14 rebounds) actually did something important. On Dallas’ last two possessions, he twice contested Jason Terry and forced him into terrible misses, the first one being an airball, as Dirk hung out by the three-point line. OKC won the game 95-91, but Dallas really lost it with their execution in the end game. Hubie Brown would’ve collapsed watching that … Orlando escaped Canada with a 92-88 win behind 36 and 13 from Dwight Howard, who did the impossibly hard thing of missing nearly three times as many free throws (10) as actual shots (four). Down the stretch, DeMar DeRozan (23 points) hit two shots you wouldn’t expect from him – one a three, and another outside of the paint – and then down four with just over a minute left, he missed the one shot you would’ve EXPECTED him to make: a driving layup. Up two, J.J. Redick finally closed the oven door, hitting a corner three with less than 10 seconds left … At one point, Jameer Nelson lost his footing and ended up feet first in the front row. He just wanted some help getting up. A female fan wanted a lil’ action. She reached for his ass. He got out of there just in time … Remember when we asked who was better between Jrue Holiday and Brandon Jennings? Well in the Bucks surprising win over Philly, Jennings burglarized the Sixers’ point, stealing his game, confidence and perimeter shot, outscoring Holiday 33 to eight … Al Jefferson got himself together, laced up the boots and went to work as Utah gave it to Cleveland 109-100 behind Big Al’s 25 points, 13 rebounds and seven dimes … And we thought the Warriors had one of those teams where they simply roll the ball out. Golden State jumped on Washington and beat the Wizards by 20 points last night as Golden State – for once – played the part of the mature team. Monta Ellis put up 25 and eight, and even Ekpe Udoh lost his mind for a night and wasn’t a complete offensive liability, going for 17. The perfect symbol for Washington’s night came on one defensive possession where JaVale McGee became the second player in two nights (after nearly never happening before) to spike a jump shot. The problem is it went right back out to Ellis, who drilled a three. Lost in this mockery of a basketball team was John Wall‘s night: 20 points and 14 dimes (with two turnovers) … We’re out like ass-grabbing fans.

@ ” You would hang with them niccas and carry whatever type of purse they told u to and dress however they said if you wanted a piece of the Poo-tang pie tree they get to choose from lol.”

That’s the dumbest shit I’ve EVER READ. U gonna do some dumb shit that some confused brothas say to do just to pull the punani? Better find your own drumbeat, son…

@KDizzle — For some reason that reminded me of the “$20 Sack Pyramid” on The Chronic:

“Uhhhh, I know DOC … uhhh, Dre does my music…”
“Things that n***** be saying to get the p****!”

I will agree that overall the Eastern Conference is not as good as the West. But the Western conference is only slightly better than the East. It’s not like in years past where the West was by far more dominant. It’s about as close to even as the NBA gets because it goes in waves. every 8-10yrs or so the power switches conferences.

But as far as contenders go It’s pretty much even. Maybe the West has one more.

  • http://www.dimemag.com Austin Burton

Conference strength doesn’t really matter in the long run, does it? During those years when the West was supposed to be SO dominant — presumably post-Jordan/Pippen up until last season, so 1999-2010 — you still had the Pistons, Heat and Celtics win championships. And it’s not like the West was cranking out a bunch of title-winners. The only West teams that won chips were L.A. and San Antonio.

Uh Sporty-j… maybe you, but not me. Hopefully you just trying to be funny, bcuz I like to convince myself that no self-respecting man would ask “how high?” when another man tells them to jump. And for kitty? I do just fine by myself. Those chicks they mess wit likely expect something in return…. girls I know KNOW I don’t got money like that… Win-win!

I don’t need to be hanging around those dudes anyway. They’ll come out the closet and people will be looking at me sideways, like his boys looked at Arsenio Hall after Magic announced his retirement. I don’t need that static.
And I don’t really want to mess with chicks who dress like Wade, and share purses with Lebron.

    @ AB
Lol I forgot about that skit.
Can’t believe we STILL waitin on Detox

    @ Chi-rilla
Dudes who know hoops would know that. I was talkin about the kids who were losin they minds cuz Amare, Melo, DWill n Boozer moved east so it was like the West wasn’t still the deeper conference.
I agree contender wise, it’s pretty much even up. After that, it’s all west cuz only one year this past decade has the east had all their playoff teams above .500
    In the west, that’s mandatory.

    @k-bit#%zle

Nicca plz! U know darn well the East Coast now runs the league. Don’t let let a meaning less allstar game cloud your judgement. Heat, Knicks, Nets once they get Howard. CP3 wanted to be Knick before David Stern tried to play GOD which made the Clips relivant. There now another team in a Big Market that will be racking in money for the NBA and all these Cry baby Owners lead by Dan Gilbit$&. Chicago could be even more of a serious team if Rose ever allowed another Superstar to share the spot-light with him. But he’s getting paid anyhow so y would he give PHUCK. In a serious allstar game Rose would give West-Brick buckets. Lebron would snap Durant in half. CP3 has always been Deron Williams bit#@ head to head. Howard would just take a step back, soldier boy with it, and SUPERMAN that Ho% Andrew Bybit%#. PHUCK a KIA, Bosh would jump over Blake Griffin. And Wade? He would just break Kobes nose lol. I know you West Coast cats have your heads held high in the past week. Don’t let that fake win against my Heat with us bringing our D game, without our most important piece(Bosh-dizzle), with the REFS doing everything in there power to help L.A., and with everybody for L.A. playing completely out of there minds have you West Coast punks on here thinking you could PHUCK with the East coast or that L.A. might meet my Heat in June. It would take a miracle of injuries to every team out West for the Lakers to make it that far. You have a better chance at hitting the lotto kid…

  • That’s What’s Up

Thanks JAY for that pic of that cute couple.

I don’t care if the girl is 5’10″ and 110 or 4’10″ and 210 – if I wanna hit it I am gonna hit it.

  • K Dizzle

@ Chi-rilla & AB: Post 57 is the ‘kids’ I was talkin bout.
You know, the “if Howard goes to the Nets” n “if CP3 had gone to New York”(even tho they signed Chandler so the Knicks had no chance to get him) then he proceeds to discuss players in an all-star game….HUH?

For the sake of argument, the East has 8 of their 15 teams under .500
The West has 5 of their 15 teams under .500
And since Mike left Chicago, 10 of 13 chips went to the West.
Like I said, the contenders are even this season, but teams like Phoenix, Golden State, Utah n Portland would be playoff teams out east.

    @ Spotty Spice – Today’s word is: Ritalin…

  • First & Foremost

    @AB and Chi

The West was superior during that time. Even though the Pistons, Celtics, and Heat won championships… someone has got to represent the conference. In any of those years, pick 10 teams that had a shot at winning the title. Of those 10, 3 might be from the eastern conference. You could rarely say so&so has a good chance to beat whoever comes out of the West. On the flipside, you have the West beating each other up and it just so happened that the Lakers and Spurs made up the majority of the finals appearances. But Dallas was always lurking. Houston if healthy. Pheonix was on the cusp. Utah was always a tough out. Denver when healthy was a tough out. You have 7 legit playoff teams. Back in the East, you always had 4 teams that simply looked like they didn’t belong. Several years with a team(s) that had losing records making the playoffs.

  • Sporty-j

I didn’t say I or that I would jump on 1 leg or anything crazy. But the tree of Piranhas those guys get to choose from is diff from my tree or your tree. Those guys trees are effortless from Jay-z to Lol Wayne. Plus Wade is voted best dress in Sports period. Dude models. What you want them niccas to come out G-Q every time or in a business Suit everytime. Those guys are trying to touch a Wider audience bigger than just the America Audience or that your mind can think of. There business Men also. I would hang in there entourage and rock a purse if that’s what gets me to knock down Rhianna, Beyonce, and etc. Not the hood rats your thinking of. That’s to Easy and I don’t want those dirty bit$# all the time. I want Buffie the Body and Serena Williams on my Trophy mantle…

  • http://www.dimemag.com Austin Burton

By the way, last night I could’ve sworn I saw Chris Paul miss a game-tying free throw with 2 seconds left, then miss everything on a potential game-winning three at the buzzer. I mean, CP3 played great before that and helped bring L.A. back from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter, but he didn’t get it done in the end.

Yet this morning I’m not reading a bunch of columns about how CP3 will never be Isiah Thomas, how he stinks in the clutch, and how he showed his true colors by turning his back on New Orleans. What’s up with that?

  • http://www.dimemag.com Austin Burton

@F&F — I’m not arguing that the East was better, just saying it doesn’t really matter all that much because the East represented themselves well with a few championship teams during that era. It wasn’t like that stretch in the NFL where the NFC won 13 Super Bowls in a row.

@Sporty-J — You leave Serena out of this…

  • Sporty-j

The West use to be bad and tough. Everybody knows that! The West Coast is slowly becoming extinct and David Stern is trying his best to Keep the relivant and stopping the flood gate of players going out East. It’s a powershift happening son. You are a WITNESS…

  • Sporty-j

Ok you can have Serena AB. Im just trying to get these young to understand that type of Alley-oops of girls that Wade and Lebron throw around to each is nothing compared to what any of use could throw to each combined. We would take there ugliest chicks and be the happiest man in the world unless your dad is named Micheal Jordan or somebody famous. Just trying to educate these guys who are fascinated with the way Lebron or Wade dress instead of basketball or females. K-Dizzle has yet to name a female he likes??? Lakegirl84???

  • http://datpiff.com beiber newz

i think the tone of discussion should have been set in smack’s title if we were gonna talk about chris paul. no one cares about kendrick perkins. but chris paul missed a free throw, agianst a team guys feel is decent competition compared to them. and paul isn’t on a transcendent level like lebron. now if lebron and his heat had missed a free throw against the wolves, then it’d be more of a story cuz the heat shouldn’t be in that position against a team like minny. but when i think about it, lebron probably wouldn’t find himself at the line nowadays in that situation cuz he’d be too busy setting up the “right shot” for haslem.

  • K Dizzle

After readin all the trash Spotty postin today(U lost in the finals remember?), I’m actually missin beibs lol

@ Austin – you completely lost me on the CP3 n Lebron comparison.
You didn’t read about CP3 this morning because
    A) He’s in his 7th season n Isiah didn’t get a chip til his 8th season so that squashes that
    B) Isiah never lost Joe Dumars(Chauncey Billups) when he was tryin to get his chips
    C) The Bad Boys were better than ANY squad CP’s ever played on
    D) CP3 never won the MVP back to back
    E) CP3 never won 120+ games in back to back seasons
    F) CP3 never left New Orleans. He was traded…TWICE
    G) CP3′s not from Louisiana
    H) CP3 didn’t go on tv to rip New Orleans when he left. Actually thanked them for everything
    I) CP3 is usually clutch in those situation. The Wolves fans GASPED in shock wheen he missed that free throw.

I can keep goin but hopefully you just wanna squash the weak comparisons to LBJ. He’s tryin to get past the ‘Decision’, you should try too..

  • sh!tfaced

if dwight gets traded or leaves for the west and it tilts right back…

pussy is pussy, athletic, yoga or pole dancing, as long as you get some happy time, its all good. but no way am i gonna be more dressed up than the girl. that’s just boyband/faggot territory. and the bag? ugh. and the make-up? shit. its the reason why they’re doing a Zoolander sequel…

  • http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/psychotic Chicagorilla

    @AB

    To add to KDizzle’s list

CP3 has already prevailed in several “clutch” situations this season. That’s not even counting how clutch he’s been in his career.

  • Sporty-j

lol at Dizzle. You guys was suppose to meet us in the Finals, lost your 1st Finals the Gasoft experiment, and was the only team to not win at least 1 playoff game last. Did you forget? Your still the 2nd best team in L.A.
