Ben Gordon Traded To Charlotte; Carmelo Anthony Says It’s His Time

Carmelo Anthony might be a little jealous. He’s the only one from the top five of the 2003 NBA Draft to not have a ring (even Darko can flaunt his), and after watching LeBron stomp through the field to win his first NBA Championship, all ‘Melo has to say is Well, I lost 12 pounds since the season ended! During an unveiling of a wax statue in his honor in downtown NYC, Anthony used the lost weight (he says he’s down to 239… let’s hope the statue reflects that) to back up some strong words. He believes his time is coming, and says the Knicks brass is excited and was surprised to see him in such good shape. Considering everyone in the NBA “loses” weight over the summer (yes, even you Eddy Curry), we’ll take this with a grain of salt. Truthfully, Anthony is going to have to pick up his all-around game and become more of a leader for the Knicks to have any chance of even winning a series or two, let alone a title. Then, they also have to hope a whole lot of other stuff also goes well: Jeremy Lin isn’t some flash in the pan, Amar’e Stoudemire‘s knees don’t disable him, and Derrick Rose stays hurt … Anthony Davis can see the dollar signs, and decided to make the first splash. The big man who is about to become the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft has trademarked his unibrow. He says he did this with his family because he doesn’t want anyone trying to grow a unibrow and then try to make money off it. No words need to be spoken … And the Brooklyn Nets new mascot is being designed by Marvel Comics. They’re calling him the Brooklyn Knight. While we doubt this mascot will have the same fanbase as the Incredible Hulk or Captain America, we’re betting Brook Lopez is already in love … We’re out like Bird.
