Video: Mike Conley Hits The Game-Winning Floater

It might seem like Money Mike Conley has seen his production slip this season as the Grizzlies dropped back of the first tier pack in the Western Conference after reaching the Conference Finals for the first time in history last season. But his PER is at an all-time high through the first three quarters of the season and he kept the Grizzlies within striking distance of a playoff berth out west after Marc Gasol went down early in the year. On Wednesday night, Conley sank a game-winning floater against the Pelicans to give the Grizzlies their fourth straight win.

Money Mike seems like a lefty CP3 the way he changes direction and scoots past two defenders on the pick-and-roll. That’s what he did on the final possession with the game tied at 88 tonight. Mike Miller and Marc Gasol stacked their screens along the three-point arc, and Conley took advantage of the openings as the Pellies tried to switch in time. Once he was in the lane, Conley flipped up a righty-runner (he’s ambidextrous) that barely looped over the outstretched arm of the rotating human velociraptor Anthony Davis.

There was only 1.5 seconds remaining after the shot fell, and the Pellies didn’t get a real look after that.

It’s good thing Conley and the Grizz all came to play at the end, even if the Memphis point guard’s numbers on the night fell way short of his averages this season (a single assist isn’t going to cut it on most nights).

The Brow was phenomenal in defeat, scoring a game-high 29 points (9-of-14 shooting) to go with 10 boards and four blocks. But he couldn’t get to Conley’s runner in the lane.
