New York Times Highlights Only Sports News That Matters: ‘Bron To Cavs

The New York Times is arguably the most respected publication in America. It’s motto, “All the News That’s Fit to Print,” appears in the upper left-hand corner of every edition. NYT’s July 12th sports section interpreted that adage much differently than it normally does, as news of LeBron James’ signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers basically stood alone on the front page.

Instead of an original drawing or high-resolution photograph, NYT went simple – and extremely clever, we think – in announcing James’ return to Cleveland.

Love it. No sports news is as “fit to print” than LeBron returning to the Cavs, and NYT acted accordingly. There’s nothing better than when basketball transcends the sporting world, and James’ second decision certainly did just that.

Will Carmelo Anthony’s choice to stay with the Knicks merit such esteemed treatment in tomorrow’s paper? We doubt it.
