Late in the third quarter against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Rajon Rondo is well on his way to a triple-double. The Boston Celtics maestro has 12 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists, success that was easy to see coming given his energy from the opening tip. UPDATE: The Celtics fell flat in the second half, getting outscored by 24 points on their way to a 109-94 loss to Oklahoma City. Rondo fell just short of a triple-double with 20 points, nine boards, and 12 dimes.

One of the most overlooked developments of the season’s early going is Boston’s offensive prowess. Brad Stevens‘ team came into tonight’s game as the NBA’s ninth-ranked offense, spurred by an 18.2 assist rate that falls just short of league-best. The Celtics are pushing the pace and sharing the ball, surprising opponents along the way.
And Rondo, unsurprisingly, is at the center of it all.
