Kendrick Lamar Apologizes To Phil Jackson For “Control” Verse

If you didn’t already know, precocious Compton, California hip hop artist Kendrick Lamar threw down a challenge too seemingly every rapper on the scene today with his verse on Big Sean‘s “Control” from last year. In one line, he even called out Phil Jackson, and the Zen aficionado took slight umbrage on Twitter. Vibe recently spoke with Lamar, and he said he wants to make peace with the famous basketball Peacenik, but Phil’s the only one he’ll apologize too.

Here’s the tweet Phil sent out, then took down:

Here’s Lamar’s pseudo apology, per Vibe:

Vibe: Since first hearing your verse and seeing his response on twitter, I wanted to know what you thought about the exchange between you and Phil Jackson after “Control”?

Kendrick Lamar: I still gotta speak my peace to Phil. It’s a beautiful thing, first of all. Second of all, I have to go back and say how big of a fan I was, and still am, of Phil. [I’ve been a fan of his] since the Bulls and Lakers, so for him to actually acknowledge me in the light of music was something unexpected. I thought it was dope. But I don’t want to be on Phil’s bad side, so he’s the only person I will apologize to (both laugh) about the line. Phil Jackson. I’ll tweet that tomorrow.

So far, no apology has been tweeted, but we’re still hoping he makes up with Jackson. We like the hot fire K.Dot and the peaceful kind.
