Obama On Jordan’s Golf Quip: Think More About The Bobcats – Or Hornets

We just think it’s cool that President Barack Obama and NBA icon Michael Jordan are even friends. That they feel comfortable poking fun at one another through the media? Pretty awesome. After Jordan recently quipped that Obama is “a s****y golfer”, POTUS playfully fired back by imploring MJ to worry more “about the Bobcats – or the Hornets” than his golf game.

Via TheHill.com:

“Mike and I, we know each other but I’ve never played golf with him,” Obama told Wisconsin radio station WJMR in an interview Monday to rally voters to the polls.

He noted that Jordan made the comment in an interview with Ahmad Rashad, whom the president said he had partnered with before on the golf course. Obama said he and Rashad twice beat former Miami Heat star Alonzo Mourning.
“Michael wasn’t very well informed about this, I think he might’ve just been trying to give Ahmad an extra ratings boost on his show,” Obama continued.

“But there is no doubt that Michael is a better golfer than I am. Of course if I was playing twice a day for the last 15 years, then that might not be the case.

“He might want to spend more time thinking about the Bobcats — or the Hornets,” Obama added.

Shots fired!

Come to think of it, though, this is no different than the tongue-in-cheek back-and-forth between typical pairs of friends. As any sitcom or deodorant commercial will tell you, after all, there’s nothing “guys” love more than to rib each other.

So, yeah. Nothing to see here. It’s only our nation’s first black President trading cheerful barbs with the greatest basketball player ever. Just like we do with our buddies.

Here’s Jordan’s original comment that sparked the fun:
