Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 2.9

Beast of the Night: Jason Terry torched the Warriors with 36 points, 6 threes, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 3 steals. He shot 53 percent (9-17) from the floor, 92 percent (12-13) from the free throw line and had 3 turnovers. As the TNT crew noted, it’s not surprising that this came against the crew from Oakland, but the Jet’s fantasy owners probably don’t care how he got this magnificent line. Read More »

The Larry Hughes All-Stars

Larry Hughes

In the final seconds of the fourth quarter of last night’s Sixers/Bulls game, Philly was down one with the ball. Allen Iverson was not in the building, as he was home dealing with a family illness. Elton Brand and Andre Iguodala, respectively, were having perhaps their best games of the season.

But even I’ve seen enough Sixers games to know what every Philly fan was fearing most: Lou Williams was going to take it upon his shoulders to lose this game. Read More »

Night of the Living Role Players

Lamar Odom (photo. Tim Tadder)

If we had told you Nazr Mohammed more than quadrupled Kobe Bryant’s scoring total on a night where Kobe played 36 minutes and wasn’t missing a major limb or anything, would you believe that the Lakers still won the game? Moreover, would you believe that we weren’t on ’shrooms? … Following his 44-point performance against Memphis, Kobe scored a season-low five points (2-12 FG) against the Bobcats, and yet L.A. still managed a win. Kobe made a three in the second quarter, hit a fadeaway in the third, and otherwise bricked everything he threw up and hurt his foot when Lamar Odom stepped on it. Read More »

Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 2.3

Kevin Durant (photo. Jared McMillen)

Beast of the Night: Kevin Durant continued his hot streak with 33 points, 11 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, 1 block and 2 turnovers. He hit a three and shot 50 percent (9-18) from the field and 100 percent (14-14) from the line. Virtually all of his numbers are up this season and he’s managed to hoist up his field goal percentage after a miserable start. Some thought using a No. 4 draft pick on him was bullish, but it’s turning out to be about right. Read More »

Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 1.27

Stephen Curry (Photo. Nicky Woo)

Beast of the Night: Stephen Curry blasted the Kings with 27 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, 1 turnover and 3 threes. The rookie stud is now averaging 28 points, 5.3 boards, 5 assists, 2.3 steals, 1.3 turnovers and 3.3 threes in his last three games and is clearly picking up the load with Monta Ellis out. The Lottery All-Stars: West

Tyreke Evans (photo. Nicky Woo)

Last Friday against the Lakers, while the Knicks were pretending to be a feisty underdog capable of putting a scare into a #1 seed should they crack the playoffs — only to be exposed against the Mavericks in a 50-piecing two days later — the All-Star resume of NY’s David Lee was one of the night’s themes. At one point, ESPN’s Jeff Van Gundy said that players from sub-.500 teams should be banned from making the All-Star team, presenting one extreme in the annual debate over how important a team’s win-loss record should be for an individual player’s All-Star case. The Media Gives Pau Gasol The Cold Shoulder In All Star Poll

Gasol Brother

Last week, there was a heated debate going on in the comment section of our site whether Pau Gasol deserved to be an All-Star this season. While a lot of people defended the Lakers’ center, there was A LOT of resentment towards Gasol by our readers. One reader, Mark, wrote this:

“Anybody who says Gasol deserves to be in the All Star over Z-Bo or Kaman probably voted for Allen Iverson to be a starter. Gasol’s good personal stats in consideration, I don’t see anybody missing 40% of the season (as of today) deserving of an All Star slot.”

Fantasy 2009-10 Mid-Season Report Card

Kevin Durant (photo. Jared McMillen)

With many teams at or past the 41-game halfway mark of the regular 2009-10 NBA season, it’s time to look back at the first half of fantasy basketball and to make some projections about the second half.

Though it’s tough to cover everything in a concise manner, let’s attempt to traverse this broad topic by way of using a simple grading system. The first letter grade after each player’s name will be based on their performance thus far, in addition to how they’ve fallen short of, met or exceeded expectations; and the second grade will be based on their expected value during the second half of the season. Who Would You Like To See In NBA Jam?

Since hearing about the relaunch of NBA Jam, the talk of the office has been which players are going to make it in the game. As you know, the best part of NBA Jam back in the day was the player combinations. With that in mind, EA Sports has come through, giving fans the chance to select which three players from each team they would like to see represented in the revival. Read More »

Teddy Dupay Thinks Weed Will Solve The “Country’s Economic Problems”

Teddy Dupay’s prep career in the state of Florida is legendary. He was part of the same 1998 McDonald’s All American class that boasted Rashard Lewis, Tayshaun Prince, Mike Miller and Corey Maggette. He left Cape Coral Mariner High School as the all-time leading prep scorer in the state’s history with 3,434 points (a record that still stands). While you’d expect the former Florida Gator to be in the NBA right now, he’s actually not playing professional basketball. In fact, he doesn’t even have a normal job. What he is doing, is working tirelessly on a movement that he believes will not only make him rich, but will stimulate the country’s lagging economy.

He wants to legalize weed. Read More »
