How much do the ladies love Rudy Fernandez? So much that they’re willing to to risk the wrath of arena security and the legal consequences that come along with running on to the court during a timeout to hug Rudy and to tell them how much they love him.
From yesterday’s OregonLive Blazers blog post from Jason Quick: Read More »
With the NBA All-Star Weekend around the corner, and the NBA Trade Deadline right after that, there’s definitely going to be some things happening in the League. With that in mind, check out five major story lines that the NBA will see heading into the All-Star Break… Read More »
At the start of the season, there was no question that the Blazers had the most post depth in the League. But then the injuries hit. First Greg Oden fractured the patella in his left knee, and then Joel Przybilla ruptured his right patella tendon. As both of these happened in December, Portland hoped that 2010 would bring them some good news. But after going 5-5 in their last 10 games, and Utah jumping them in the Northwest Conference standings, it’s time to make a move. Read More »
As if Greg Oden wasn’t having a bad enough season. On top of suffering a season-ending injury on Dec. 5, the Blazers’ big man is currently dealing with a very public and embarrassing situation. Nude pictures of the 21-year-old have surfaced on the Internet yesterday. They were supposedly taken by Oden a year-and-a-half ago from his cell phone camera and was sent to his ex-girlfriend. Oden confirmed he was the one in those pictures (as if someone could mistake Oden for someone else) and has apologized for his poor judgement. Read More »
A lot of people (including me) thought the Blazers were crazy when they gave Andre Miller that three-year, $21 million contract over the summer. After all, the team was already high on Steve Blakeand people doubted that Miller’s style would fit in with Portland’s style. For the first few months of the season, it was proving to be a bad fit. Miller was unhappy with not starting and his chemistry with the teammates and coaches didn’t appear to be there. A trade seemed to be destined to happen. Read More »
The 2009-10 season is just about at it’s midway point. These two-and-a-half months have been filled with a whole lot of surprises. Who would have thought Gilbert Arenas would be suspended for the season or Blake Griffin and Greg Oden would suffer season-ending injuries? And who would have thought Allen Iverson would be back in Philly or the Nets would be so bad (Okay, well that one wasn’t so far fetched). Read More »
Mike Conley hit the genetics lottery. The son of an Olympic gold-medal triple jumper, he is a natural athlete. After he and Greg Oden led Ohio State to the NCAA national title game as freshmen, Conley was drafted fourth overall in the ‘07 NBA Draft.
Since then, he has gone from Memphis’ point guard of the future, to backup, then back to being a starter again. Read More »
30. New Jersey Nets (3-34)
Last week: Lost to Milwaukee; lost at Atlanta; lost at New Orleans; lost at San Antonio.
There’s no good reason to bury Terrence Williams on the bench right now. T-Will’s minutes began declining sharply in mid-December, and this month he’s been clocking only five minutes a night. The Nets aren’t going anywhere anytime soon; forget Trenton Hassell and Jarvis Hayes and get the rookie some experience.
29. Detroit Pistons (11-25)
Last week: Lost at Dallas; lost at San Antonio; lost to Philadelphia; lost at Chicago.
The 13-game losing streak is clearly making the Pistons’ announcers go crazy. During Monday’s loss to the Bulls, Greg Kelser described a basic one-hander by Chris Wilcox as “dunking history.” Read More »
Over the weekend, Yahoo! Sports reported a trade discussion in which Minnesota GM David Kahn allegedly offered Al Jefferson to the Pacers for Danny Granger, (pretty much) straight-up. According to the story, Larry Bird immediately said “No,” and that was the end of that:
While Pacers president Larry Bird remains determined to build around Granger, sources say Kahn has become increasingly dubious on making Jefferson a cornerstone for the Timberwolves. Read More »
