It is becoming a little easier to say this now that it’s been a couple of days: Steve Nash is a Los Angeles Laker. Nash has said the main reason he convinced the Suns to trade him to their division rival was because he wanted to be close to his children. His agent Billy Duffy explains Nash’s thinking, saying, “His intention, as related to the Suns, was if he left that they would get value, that he would have the ability as his career was winding down to come to a competitive situation. But his most important aspect was his ability to be close to his children. He’s an hour from his children. I’ve never seen him happier because of that fact alone.” Read More »

Two hours from the start of his sixth annual Sneakers and Speakers charity concert, Matt Bonner was putting the final touches on the event’s silent auction and raffle. The final touches included standing on a milk crate to hang up an autographed Spurs jersey (Bonner is 6-10!), and writing with a sharpie on blank pieces of paper what the actual silent auction and raffle items were. Bonner was not asking the staff of the venue, Plymouth, New Hampshire’s The Flying Monkey, to help; he was doing it all by himself. Now this seems like a good time to remind you that he signed a 4 year, $13.89 million dollar contract back in 2010; yes this is a millionaire not using an event planner to setup and run an event. From everyone at Dime, we wish you a Happy Fourth of July!
Today is a great day to reminisce about our founding fathers, the signing of the Declaration of Independence and other historic events, but let’s not forget about the time Chris Kaman spent $10,000 back in 2010 on fireworks and gave western Michigan a light show it would never forget. Read More »

“This is probably the only NBA player’s camp that the player is actually there the whole time,” explains Luke Bonner, younger brother of San Antonio Spurs forward Matt Bonner, about the annual Matt Bonner Basketball Camp held in their hometown of Concord, New Hampshire. This is clearly evident as Bonner is not just there to make speeches or take pictures and sign autographs. He is running around to check out the action on different courts, stepping in to run drills or ref games, and engaging participants to become not just better players but more well-rounded individuals. As we all know, the New Orleans Hornets are set to pick Anthony Davis No. 1 at the NBA Draft tonight. Davis’s signature unibrow is often brought up and he recently trademarked the phrases “Fear The Brow” and “Raise The Brow” so that no one could profit off his look. New Orleans based retailer, Dirty Coast, is playing off his unibrow and created the “Crescent City Connection” shirt. Read More »

Remember how Mike Miller came out of nowhere to hit seven threes in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, helping the Miami Heat finish off the Oklahoma City Thunder? Remember how Miller was literally dragging himself up and down the court all playoffs (and most of the regular season as well) due to back pain and other injuries? If you forgot, here is video evidence. Read More »

Following the Thunder’s loss in the Finals, Kevin Durant openly expressed his feelings:
“It hurts. It hurts, man. We’re all brothers on this team. It just hurts to go out like this. We made it to the Finals, which was cool for us, but we didn’t want to just make it there. … As a whole, I’m proud of the guys and how we fought all season. … I wouldn’t want to play for anyone else, I wouldn’t want to play for any other city.” Read More »
