At different points in their careers, both Alonzo Mourning and Shane Battier have gotten bowled over by Kobe and the Lakers. Can you imagine how Dwight Howard felt watching the LeBron and Kobe commercials on TV? If the media (or Nike) had their way, there would have been no Eastern or Western Conference finals. LeBron and Kobe were destined to meet in the Championship. To have four of the biggest names in the NBA competing on the grand stage of greatness, and to exclude two of them from the start, was total disrespect. Dwight Howard made it his business to put a stop to what people were already claiming to be “one of the best NBA Finals ever.” Read More »

Headed into this series, the majority of the TNT crew said that the Orlando Magic would die because of the three. I think Sir Charles was the only one who believed that the Magic could beat the Cavs. But Charles’s reasoning wasn’t even based on Orlando’s three-point shooting. He thought that Dwight’s ability to protect the rim would really throw off Cleveland’s offense. He’s been right about that. But ultimately, Orlando has controlled this series because of the way they shoot it from deep.
