New York’s Finest – Steph vs. Kenny

Last Sunday night at Madison Square Garden, two of greatest high school players of all-time squared off when Stephon Marbury’s Knicks beat Sebastian Telfair’s Wolves. Steph got the better of his younger cousin and fellow Lincoln H.S. (Brooklyn) alum in a New York win, giving him 17 points and 7 dimes, while Bassy went for 9 points and 7 dimes.

Watching that matchup got me to thinking about where those two rank in the annals of NYC ball. Everyone knows that New York City is the mecca of basketball. GRADUATION

Kanye’s “Graduation”

Today, Kanye West’s 3rd solo LP, Graduation, drops worldwide, and no doubt everyone will be stacking it against 50 Cent’s “Curtis.”

You’ve almost certainly heard Kanye’s first two singles already, “Stronger” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” – both of which have been all over the radio for weeks. Both tracks are hot and are solid indicators of the quality of the rest of the album.

Another standout track is “Big Brother,” a tribute to his boss/mentor Jay-Z. On this one, ‘Ye display the ups and downs in the relationship and credits Jay for inspiring him and keeping his competitive spirit alive. A humble Kanye? Who knew? He shows his gratitude to Jay as he raps: If you admire somebody you should go ahead tell ‘em / People never get the flowers while they could still smell ‘em / A idol in my eyes, God of the game/ Heart of the city, Roc-a-fella chain / Never be the same, never be another / #1 Young Hov also my big brother.
