Two minutes one night, 22 minutes the next. Denver Nuggets rookie Gary Forbes has literally been battling for playing time all year long. Despite not logging the most consistent minutes, the UMass grad has made the most of what time Coach George Karl has given him. Averaging 4.9 points in 12 minutes per game, including eight outbursts of 10 or more points and a career-high 19-point outing against New York earlier this season, Forbes is ready. After a recent practice, we got the chance to hop on the phone with Forbes to talk about life in the Mile-High City after ‘Melo, his journey to the NBA and more. Read More »
There were rumors (and photos) percolating all over the interwebs last week that Blake Griffin (not Spike Lee) was dressing up as the legendary Mars Blackmon for an upcoming photo shoot, but no one seemed to know what it was for. Now we know. Watch Mars BlakeMan ask USC tight end Jordan Cameron what makes him so great. Will this help his NFL Draft stock this year? Probably not. But it will make for a good promotional video to show his grandkids.
Recently I had the chance to be a part of Nike Basketball‘s new viral spot for the Nike Zoom Kobe VI titled, “Ophidiophobia.” In case you didn’t know, ophidiophobia means the abnormal fear of snakes – which is thankfully something that I don’t have. And yes, that was a real snake! Check it out and let me know what you think.
Google’s running a new campaign called Demo Slam, where they are asking people to create demo videos that display how awesome and easy it is to use their vast variety of technologies. At the expense of Amar’e Stoudemire getting dunked on by 13-year-olds, Darrelle Revis shows us how easy it is to use Google Image Search. Cool idea, but I think we all know how to use Google Image Search. Maybe Antonio Cromartie doesn’t, but that’s besides the point. Anyways, don’t think STAT didn’t get his revenge on the Jets cornerback, as you can check out Stoudemire using Google Translate to knock Revis off Revis Island after the jump.
Last week, we showed you a sneak peek at LeBron‘s All-Star Game kicks. Now check out the special colorway that Kobe Bryant will be wearing as he plays in his thirteenth NBA All-Star Game this February. Read More »
JaVale McGee has definitely had his share of in-game highlight dunks (and in-game dunk fails) but nothing in this video of him practicing for the Dunk Contest impressed me. The mouth-grabbing-paper dunk was so-so, but him being 7-0 just reminded me of a giraffe eating from a tree. Can we just hand the trophy to Blake Griffin or sleeper Brandon Jennings already?
Don’t knock the hustle. That scrawny, little 15-year-old pictured above may be known to his parents as Max Silverman, but feel free to refer to him as the Gordon Gekko of the sneaker game. The Wheatley School (Old Westbury, N.Y.) sophomore may not have the largest or even most exclusive sneaker collection around, but he’s found a way to take his obsession of kicks and turn it into a nice little business for himself. After constantly running into Max at New York City’s Sneaker Con and Dunkxchange events, we got up with the kid to discuss his sneaker hustle, the business aspects of the game and his entrepreneurial goals for the future.
