GIF: Quincy Acy Almost Tears The Rim Down

Quincy Acy

The Knicks gave up 120 points to the Bucks tonight in a 120-107 loss and Jabari Parker didn’t even have a great game. Fortunately, expectations are low for the Knicks this season — though, not according to the people we follow on Twitter. With that in mind, it’s best to just focus on any improvements. Regardless of New York’s troubles, Quincy Acy did his best to try and rip the iron off the backboard on a dunk that’s making the poor rim at MSG continue to vibrate in fear. Read More »

Video: Anthony Davis One-Handed Put-Back Crunk Dunk

Anthony Davis

The Pelicans jumped out to a 14-point first-quarter lead against the Wizards tonight in preseason action, and pushed it to 20 by the half. The biggest reason for such a substantial margin against a playoff team like the Wiz, lies with ascending big man Anthony Davis, who played like a man among boys in his three quarters of action. Report: Multiple Sources Say Kobe Is To Blame For Steep Decline Of The Lakers

Kobe Bryant

Former ESPN True Hoop head honcho and one of the most respected writers in the game, Henry Abbott, published a sprawling, multifaceted feature on Kobe Bryant today. It’s not the usual puff piece, though, with tales of Mamba’s preparatory diligence scattered among clichéd paeans to his greatness. Instead, it’s a roundup from agents, league insiders, front office executives and others around the NBA (many of whom are unnamed) dismaying at all the carnage wrought on the Lakers’ franchise by Bryant. Based on Abbott’s rather extensive array of quotes and anecdotes from sources, it’s Bryant who inherits the majority of blame for LA’s current status as an NBA also-ran. Read More »

GIF: Dwight Howard Spins For The Towering Slam

Dwight Howard

Before last night, Dwight Howard had yet to suit up in a Rockets uniform during preseason action. He only played 16 minutes in the first half during his first time out against the Warriors Sunday night, but an athletic dunk in the pregame layup-line, and a silky spin move and slam on Ognjen Kuzmic during the game, should make Rockets fans breathe easy after questions about his health have kept him out of preseason action since training camps opened. Watch The Jamal Crawford Documentary “J.Crossover”

Jamal Crawford "J.Crossover"

At one point in Ballislife‘s excellent documentary on Jamal Crawford, the two-time Sixth Man of the Year says of playing basketball over football and baseball: “I was doing reverse cradle layups when I was eight, nine years old, so I was like ‘OK, this can work.'” And work it did. The Ballislife crew spent most of the summer at the Seattle Pro-Am grabbing footage and interviews for the doc, and if you’re anywhere near as big a fan of Crawford as we are, you’re going to want to check it out. Bismack Biyombo, Taj Gibson

Kobe On Julius Randle Having Him As A Mentor: “It Means He Can’t F**k It Up”

Kobe Bryant, Julius Randle

The Lakers stormed back from a 16-point halftime deficit to beat the Utah Jazz at home last night, 98-91. Kobe Bryant‘s 26 points and Ronnie Price‘s defense were the biggest reasons why. Rookie Julius Randle had a decent game, too, with eight points, five rebounds and two blocks. When asked about mentoring Randle after the game, Kobe made it clear it was on the rookie to soak up as much as he could from Mamba and coach Byron Scott. Read More »
