Report: OKC-Nets Talks Falter; Rockets Are Now Interested In Brook — Huh?

Brook Lopez, Dwight Howard

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the Nets-Thunder talks have disintegrated because for Brooklyn, “there was nothing we liked.” But Woj also said that Houston had inquired about Brook Lopez‘s services, which is weird because they already have a center; his name is Dwight Howard — in case you’ve forgotten about him during his disappointing opening half to the 2014-15 season. Report: Three-Team Trade Nixed, But OKC Could Still Get Brook Lopez

Kendrick Perkins, Brook Lopez

Welp, it seems the Nets weren’t interested in Brooklyn’s Born Ready. After reports surfaced last night of a proposed three-team swap sending Brook Lopez to Oklahoma City, Jarrett Jack and Jeremy Lamb to Charlotte and Lance Stephenson to Brooklyn, it fell apart today because of Brooklyn’s unwillingness to take on Stephenson. But the Thunder are determined to get Brook and his fragile foot, and they could still receive the Nets center in exchange for Kendrick Perkins. You read that right. Read More »

Hakeem Olajuwon Says Michael Jordan Is A “Far Superior Player” To LeBron

Michael Jordan, LeBron James

The only other basketball who’s better that gets us as riled up as Kobe Bryant vs. Michael Jordan, is one we hear a lot of younger fans spouting off when they say LeBron James is better than the G.O.A.T. Today, before the Knicks and Bucks tipped off at 3 p.m. ET at O2 Arena in London, Hakeem Olajuwon — himself a two-time champion, who played against MJ, and famously trained LBJ on the block — said Jordan was a “far superior player.” Amen, Dream. Watch This Fantastic Kobe Bryant “Let It Go” Frozen Parody: “Let It Tank”

Kobe Bryant, Carlos Boozer

I hate musicals. Call it un-American or, as my family explains, “You’re just a toneless hater,” but I just don’t understand spontaneously breaking into song; I feel similarly about karaoke. But I’ve been listening and singing along to Bleacher Report’s “Let it Go” Frozen parody, “Let It Tank” — as sung by Kobe Bryant — for the last hour, and it’s incredible. Read More »

Report: Cavs Openly Questioning Their Coach As Cleveland Drama Drags On

David Blatt, Kyrie Irving

Fun fact: a LeBron James team hasn’t been under .500 this late in the season since his rookie (2003-04) year. That’s mind-boggling when you consider the personnel in Cleveland. A recent report from Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com sheds some light on their interteam snafus, and reveals that Cavs players have been openly questioning — to opponents even — the tactics employed by first-year head coach David Blatt — he who was ushered to the sideline last night in a somewhat aggressive move by ‘Bron. The Defensive Concerns Of Kevin Love After He Sits Entire 4th Quarter — Again

Kevin Love

On the Friday after Christmas, Kevin Love sat the entire fourth quarter in Cleveland’s second win — over the Magic — in their last 11 outings. Last night against Phoenix, he again sat the entire fourth quarter when the Cavs came back before eventually falling to the Suns, 107-100. As Chris Fedor at Northeast Ohio Media Group notes, this is a bad omen for one-third of Cleveland’s troika of superstars. Read More »

Five Moments More “Difficult” For LeBron Than His Two-Week Absence

LeBron James

LeBron James is a “game-time decision” tonight when his Cavs take on the Suns, but his two-week absence from the court — at eight games, the longest of his career — could continue for at least another game. James told Northeast Ohio Media Group’s Joe Vardon today that his prolonged stretch on the sidelines was “the most difficult thing I’ve been through.” While it’s totally grandiose of us to cry foul, since no one is a better judge of LeBron than himself, here are five things we think were more difficult for LeBron than his current eight-game stretch watching his team from the sidelines.
