I’m not 100% sure what to think of this. Realizing that life without Yao is a very real possibility, the Rockets are in the hot pursuit of Marcin Gortat. How badly do they want him? They’ve set up an email address where fans can write in and tell Marcin him exactly why he should sign with the Rockets. I wonder if Ron Artest is going to get the same treatment. So if you’re a Rockets fan, email Rocketsfanslovegortat@gmail.com.
That should work. Really. And while you’re at it, let us know what you wrote (or would write) in the comments section. I can’t wait to read these.
I’m confused. I’m going to write this rumor off as not true, but I’ll break it down anyway. Our boys over at RealGM.com have the following story on their homepage right now:
“The Knicks offered the Timberwolves the eighth pick and forward Wilson Chandler for the fifth selection in last week’s NBA Draft. Minnesota declined, and used the fifth overall pick on Ricky Rubio. Reports indicate that New York would have used the selection on Rubio, not Stephen Curry.”
Can’t be true right? If so, the Wolves passed up coming away in the draft with Stephen Curry at the 6th pick, Jonny Flynn at the 8th pick (the Warriors didn’t workout Flynn and had no intention of taking him) AND landing Wilson Chandler. Read More »
Here is today’s update. His brother was reading through all the comments and emailed me the following (I don’t think he’d mind if I posted his entire email… trying to be as transparent as possible here!): Read More »
Here’s the deal. I received a facebook message that said the following:
“My little brother is the top 8 year old in the country and we are hoping to get some publicity is there anyway you can help?
Thank you. Below is a mixtape of my brother… thanks again”
My reply to the dude?
“Maybe the craziest thing anyone has ever asked me!!! HE’S IN 2ND GRADE!!!”
Now I’ve succumbed. So world, introducing Dime cover athlete for issue #674… The 8 year sensation… Jordan Montgomery.
I know it has zero to do with the playoffs, but in our endless basketball dialogue over here pointless water cooler arguments come up that need to be settled externally. That’s where you come in.
So who would you rather have as your NBA point guard: Rajon Rondo or Devin Harris?
I caught this amazing battle in the NY Post this morning. The WWE has booked Monday Night Raw in the Pepsi Center next Monday night - the same night that the Nuggets are supposed to host the Lakers for Game 4. Of course Vince McMahon isn’t giving up the date easily. Check out Vince’s quote:
“Even though the Denver Nuggets had a strong team this year and were projected to make the playoffs, obviously Nuggets and Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke did not have enough faith in his own team to hold the date for a potential playoff game.”
Let’s settle it in the ring. Who should represent the Nuggets and who should represent the WWE? Tell me you wouldn’t pay money for a Batista vs. Kenyon steel cage match?
I’m not an NBA Coach. In fact I’m not a coach at all. And I respect Doc Rivers, his staff and the job they’ve done developing players (see Kendrick Perkins, Big Baby, and Rajon Rondo). I also respect the job Doc’s done on the sidelines where I think he is THE best at calling plays out of timeouts and as well as his tremendous job establishing and sticking to his rotation while installing confidence in each member of his team. That being said, you’re up three, 9 seconds left, and Salmons gets the ball with his back to the basket a little beyond the elbow. FOUL HIM. Someone, anyone, please please please tell me why you don’t foul Salmons in that situation. Anyone? Buehler… Buehler… Buehler…
The Celtics should sign Fred Jones immediately. Seems that all the cheapo Clip Show did was give every other NBA team a look to see what Freddie still had in the tank and frankly, it was a lot (or at least enough). The Clippers decided not to pay Jones for the rest of the year and waived him today. He’s better than Tony Allen right now and Allen is essentially the C’s 6th man. By the way, the Clippers also cut Paul Davis, who is probably better than Big Baby right now as well.
