Watch Derrick Rose Continue Dominating With 27 Points Versus ‘Wolves

Derrick Rose

Derrick Rose (Jeff Curry, USATODAY)

Make that 57 points in the last two games for Derrick Rose. As the Chicago Bulls superstar plays like he did against the Cleveland Cavaliers a few days ago and Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night, it’s easy to believe that he’s capable of leading his team to a title. There’s just nothing defenses can do to stop a player of Rose’s unmatched explosion when he’s confident, aggressive, and his jumper is falling. Read More »

GIF: Andrew Bogut Goes Around The Back, Throws Perfect Outlet For Dunk

Andrew Bogut

For his first two seasons in a Golden State Warriors uniform, Andrew Bogut was little more than defensive anchor. It speaks to his immense value in only such a role that his impact on the Warriors still loomed so large despite his skills on the other end being wholly underutilized. But Steve Kerr has rocked the boat in the Bay, and the all-court playmaking prowess that the former number one pick showed so frequently as a Milwaukee Buck has finally returned. Watch Bogut grab the loose ball, go around his back, and throw a perfect, 65-foot, baseball-style outlet to Andre Iguodala for the flush. Read More »

Watch Ronald Roberts Posterize Jonas Jerebko

You’re probably not familiar with Sixers camp invite, Ronald Roberts, Jr.. The four-year player out of Saint Joseph’s went undrafted in June, and he’s on the bubble to make the Philly team after getting a camp invite and suffering a quad contusion that’s kept him out of their last four games. His explosive dunk on Jonas Jerebko during preseason action last night is definitely a big point in his favor, though. Plus, this year’s Sixers squad isn’t exactly a world-beater. Read More »

GIF: Josh Childress Levels Jesse Wagstaff With Airborne Elbow

Josh Childress

Former Hawks and Suns forward Josh Childress, who spurned an NBA contract to sign a $20 million contract in July of 2008 to play in Greece, is now playing for the Sydney Kings of the National Basketball League (NBL) in Australia. During a game against the Perth Wildcats, Childress unloaded a crazy airborne elbow on Jesse Wagstaff and was ejected. Read More »

GIF: Huge Marcin Gortat Block Leads To John Wall’s Reverse, Double-Pump Slam

Iman Shumpert, Marcin Gortat

Of the countless attributes why basketball ranks as the world’s best game is a near constant stream of end-to-end action. There’s no waiting, players perform on both sides of the ball, and offense turns to defense and vice versa in a flash. This huge block of an Iman Shumpert dunk by Marcin Gortat and ensuing reverse, double-pump jam by John Wall is a shining example of what makes hoops – played at its highest level, too – so enthralling. GIF: Marc Gasol Whips Curving Cross-Court Pass For Open Three-Pointer

Marc Gasol

Marc Gasol (Nelson Chenault, USATODAY)

Box scores will never do the all-encompassing impact of Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol justice. The 2013 Defensive Player of the Year and former All-NBA Second Team honoree doesn’t block shots at an elite level, isn’t a super productive scorer, and fails to pull down 10 rebounds in a single game far more often than it seems he should. But Gasol is the Grizzlies’ fulcrum on both ends of the floor, yielding two-way influence similar to that of Joakim Noah’s that must be seen to be properly appreciated. Sometimes that means setting a bone-crushing pick, thwarting a pick-and-roll, or making the extra pass for a hockey assist. On occasions like this sick, cross-court, curveball pass to Quincy Pondexter in last night’s exhibition, though, Gasol’s rare and varied skill-set is plain to the naked eye. Read More »

Manu Ginobili Kicks Shot In From Beyond Mid-Court

Manu Ginobili

Spurs six man and Argentinian wing Manu Ginobili was having some at practice the other day. He was attempting to kick a basketball from beyond mid-court into the basket. This is no small feat. After an NBA camera caught one attempt bounce wildly off the backboard, Manu hit the next converting one of the best trick shots we’ve seen in a while. Read More »

Julius Randle: “I Don’t Want To Be The Next Shaq. I Want To Be The Next Kobe”

Julius Randle, C.J. McCollum

Rookie Julius Randle always struck us as a bruising power forward, more in the vein of Shaq than any other Laker great; he’s a player with a butt that could back down just about anyone at the college level. We’ll see if that power translates to his first NBA season after being selected by the Lakers with the seventh pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. But Randle — after showcasing some nice body control on some coast-to-coast jaunts last night in LA’s win over Portland — has a different apotheosis in mind. Read More »

Watch Chris Paul Demolish The Suns

Isaiah Thomas, Chris Paul

Isaiah Thomas, Chris Paul (Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports)

Chris Paul played angry last night. Well, angrier than usual for what is still a tune-up for the 2014-15 regular season. With many predicting the Clippers as a title contender, their 1-5 preseason record heading into last night’s game against the Suns did not bode well for their championship aspirations. So Paul, along with fellow all-star, Blake Griffin, decided to treat their second-to-last preseason contest like they had something to prove. Read More »

GIF: Tristan Thompson’s One-Handed Alley-Oop Smash

Tristan Thompson

The Cavs were in Memphis last night, and unlike their game against the Bulls earlier in the week when coach David Blatt tried to play a similar rotation to the one he’ll be using in the regular season, LeBron James sat for the entire game, and the players hoping to secure a roster slot the got a lot of run in a 97-92 Grizzlies win. On one play, Tristan Thompson, showed why he’s definitely in Cleveland’s rotation and could command a $11 million a year for his next contract. Read More »
