Manu Ginobili Says He’s Pain-Free But “Way Behind Basketball-Wise”

Manu Ginobili

No team’s system is more effective or relentless than the San Antonio Spurs’. In the past two seasons alone, Gregg Popovich and company have turned cast-offs Danny Green, Boris Diaw, and Patty Mills into extremely valuable, role-playing cogs that helped them to two consecutive Finals appearances and the 2014 NBA championship. More than any other organization in the league, the Spurs consistently push their players to the peak of their ability. But make no mistake – San Antonio needs its stars to play like stars to be its best. To that end, the Spurs will be pleased to know that 37 year-old Manu Ginobili says he’s fully healthy for the first time in years. But the Argentinian legend also warns that he’s “way behind” in terms of on-court comfort. Read More »

Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant has been the lone bright spot of an otherwise disastrous preseason for the Los Angeles Lakers. Nuggets Want To Manage Difficult Feat Of Fast Offense, Stingy Defense

Brian Shaw

Brian Shaw was going to change the Denver Nuggets. Considered a sideshow by the NBA right under predecessor George Karl for their breakneck pace, small-ball lineups, and general aversion to halfcourt play on either end of the floor, the Nuggets under Shaw were to utilize stringent offensive and defensive principles to finally rid themselves of first round playoff failure. Triangle offense, traditional big men, and fewer possessions were all buzzwords of Denver training camp last fall. Read More »

Stan Van Gundy Says Josh Smith Will Take Fewer Three-Pointers This Season

Josh Smith

It’s a shame that Detroit Pistons forward Josh Smith became a punching bag for criticism last season. That’s not to say it wasn’t warranted, of course. Smith reached a career nadir in 2013-2014, posting numbers across the board well below his previously established and generally solid norms. The genesis behind his decline is obvious: Smith was playing out of position at small forward, and fell easier victim than ever to his proclivity for hoisting jumper after jumper. Read More »

Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine

Video: Lou Williams Hits The Game-Winner

Louis Williams

Sweet Lou came through in the end last night when his Raptors were in Boston to take on the C’s. With 8.1 seconds left and the scored knotted at 89, the Raps threw the ball to Louis (Lou) Williams in the backcourt. He had one of the best perimeter defenders in the league — Avery Bradley — matched up against him as he dribbled across mid-court.
