The Allen Iverson To The Knicks Pipe Dream Could Be Over

Newsday is reporting that the Knicks have apparently decided not to offer Allen Iverson a contract. A source close to the Knicks told beat writer Alan Hahn that management had a lot of interest in the former All-Star but decided to pass. The Knicks’ record currently sits at 2-9 and are second to last in the Eastern Conference. With point guard Chris Duhon struggling, acquiring Iverson would not only fill a need but would bring back excitement to the Garden. We at the Dime office are strong advocates of A.I. being a Knick, so we are hoping the rumor isn’t true.

Allen Iverson Could Sign With The Knicks Today

A source tells Dime Magazine that Allen Iverson might sign with the Knicks today. According to the source who works for a New York media outlet, a Knicks press conference is scheduled at the Garden at noon today. We assume this is reguarding Allen Iverson. Newsday also confirms that the Knicks are on the verge of signing the former NBA MVP. Iverson doesn’t clear waivers until 6 pm tonight, so any team can claim him with his current salary with Memphis. But if nobody claims him off waivers, Iverson is free to sign with anybody. We’ll keep you posted.

Allen Iverson To Knicks Gaining Momentum

As legitimate and off-the-wall Allen Iverson destination scenarios bounce all over the internet, A.I. signing with the Knicks rumors are starting to take the lead. When Allen and the Grizzlies split ways earlier in the week, the immediate reaction out of New York seemed to be something along the lines of “No way in hell are we going to sign him.” But this afternoon the New York Times’ Howard Beck says that the Knicks are now expected to pursue Iverson: Read More »

Major League Baseball won’t let anybody wear number 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson. LeBron James suggests the NBA should do the same thing with Michael Jordan’s number. Breaking News: New Orleans Hornets Fire Byron Scott

Apparently Byron Scott’s time has run out.

According to ESPN, the New Orleans Hornets have fired Scott. The decision was made after last night’s embarrassing loss to the Phoenix Suns. The official announcement is expected to be made later today.

Twice, Scott coached in the NBA Finals when he was with the New Jersey Nets. Under Scott, the Hornets were 221-216 and in 2008, compiled 56 wins and a Western Conference semi finals berth. But this season, the Hornets have managed only 3 wins and 6 losses.

Gilbert Arenas and the Wizards Need to Man Up

Gilbert Arenas’s comments in the locker room after last night’s disappointing loss to the Miami Heat were almost as deflating as his 12 turnovers. “I don’t know what the hell is going on around here,” he told reporters. “I don’t know if some old player put a curse on us back in the day. I have no idea.”

Yes, Washington is dealing with some disappointing injuries right now (including Randy Foye spraining his ankle in the first half last night), but they are clearly are feeling sorry for themselves and it’s turning into losses. Quickly. And if Gilbert and Caron Butler don’t put a stop to it ASAP, a once-promising season will be over before it even gets a chance to start. Read More »
