Jordan On LeBron Wearing No. 23: “I’m Cool With It”

Michael Jordan, LeBron James

Michael Jordan doesn’t care that LeBron James has elected to wear number 23 for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and neither should you. His Airness told ESPN this morning that he’s “cool” with The King’s choice and that Jordan doesn’t “own a number.” Read More »

Joakim Noah Is Happy For LeBron, But Hopes To “Kick His Ass”

Joakim Noah, LeBron James

With LeBron James leaving South Beach for his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers, the NBA lost one of its better rivalries of the past few seasons: the “Hollywood as hell” Miami Heat versus the rough-and-tumble Chicago Bulls. Reigning Defensive Player of the Year and general LeBron-agitator Joakim Noah, though, is already sparking flames between The King’s new team and his own. Though happy for James and the people of Cleveland, Noah recently said he hopes the Bulls “kick [LeBron's] ass as many times as possible.” Read More »

Donatas Motiejunas Questions Chandler Parsons’ Contract

Donatas Motiejunas

The Houston Rockets would have happily matched the Dallas Mavericks’ offer sheet to Chandler Parsons had Chris Bosh done as expected and inked a contract to create the league’s newest Big Three with James Harden and Dwight Howard. Just don’t tell that to Houston big man Donatas Motiejunas. While discussing the state of his team with basketnews.lt, Motiejunas questioned whether or not Parsons is worth the max-level deal he received from Dallas and wondered if Harden would be comfortable being Houston’s third-highest paid player. Wade: LeBron Is New Favorite Opponent, Kobe Second Best Ever

Dwyane Wade

Dwyane Wade exhibited rare perspective and grace by offering public support of close friend LeBron James’ decision to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, that certainly doesn’t mean Wade and the Miami Heat will take it easy on their former teammate in future match-ups. In his hometown of Chicago earlier this week for the “Dwyane Wade and Brandon Marshall Sports Academy,” Wade said that James – no longer “second best all-time” Kobe Bryant – is now his favorite opponent. Less than two weeks after agreeing to a five-year, $124 million contract to remain with the New York Knicks, Carmelo Anthony told ESPN that he “doesn’t care about the money” and that signing with the Knicks was a “matter of me believing in the organization, believing in Phil [Jackson].” Read More »

Isaiah Thomas Felt “Disrespected” By Kings

Isaiah Thomas

Maybe because 5-9 point guard Isaiah Thomas was the last pick (N0. 60) in the 2011 NBA Draft, the Kings just couldn’t see past his height and a lack of hype after coming out of the University of Washington. Like fellow Pacific Northwest guard, Nate Robinson, Thomas kept surprising prognosticators who didn’t think he had the size to survive at the pro level. Now, after a three-year, $27 million sign-and-trade sent him to Phoenix, Thomas comes clean and says he “felt very disrespected” by the Sacramento franchise who never gave him the chance many — including us — felt he earned with his play. James Harden Says Every Teammate Besides Dwight Howard Is A Role Player

LaMarcus Aldridge, James Harden

The Houston Rockets came into the off-season hoping to make a splash. Instead, they lost Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin in trades designed to open up cap room to acquire a max-level free agent, only to see their main target Chris Bosh return to Miami. On top of that bad luck, the Rockets turned down their option on Chandler Parsons, and he signed a near-max offer sheet with the Dallas Mavericks, which the Rockets failed to match. Despite all this, James Harden doesn’t appear too worried about his team moving forward Read More »

Taj Gibson Says D-Rose Will “Come Back Dominant”

Taj Gibson, Derrick Rose

It’s been so long since Derrick Rose was the player grade school kids only vaguely remember from his 2011 MVP season, it’s hard not to think he’s been stranded on Neptune in the ensuing years. He hasn’t, and — in case you forgot — he played this past season, albeit as a shadow of his former self during 10 regular-season contests before injuring his other knee. He’s come back from two major surgeries, though, and he could have suited up in June. Teammate Taj Gibson, for one, thinks Rose will “come back dominant” next season. Read More »
