LeBron: “I Love Kobe. I Love His Competitive Nature. I Love Competing Against Him”

LeBron James, Kobe Bryant

We’ve never understood the vitriol between loyal followers of LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. Both players are not only unquestioned all-time greats, but also reigned supreme in the NBA at disparate times – Kobe’s prime coincided with LeBron’s slow maturation, and the latter’s prime is currently coinciding with the former’s slow descent. Appreciating the gifts of one doesn’t mean you can’t similarly appreciate the other; their collective fandom isn’t mutually exclusive. Read More »

Mavs Coach Carlisle Says LeBron James Is “No Doubt” A Top Five Player Of All-Time

LeBron James

If any coach in the NBA could underappreciate LeBron James, one would assume it might be Rick Carlisle. After all, it was Carlisle’s Dallas Mavericks that beat LeBron’s Miami Heat in the 2011 Finals by rendering the four-time MVP a broken shell of his normally dominant self. Instead of gloating or feeling excessive pride over forcing James to a career nadir that would prove the genesis of so much unparalleled success in the interim, though, Carlisle seems to think more of LeBron than most of his coaching peers. Kobe On No. 40 ESPN Ranking, “They’re A Bunch Of Idiots”

Kobe Bryant

Welp, this was bound to happen following Kobe Bryant‘s torn Achilles tendon at the end of the 2012-13 regular season and his broken leg only six games into the 2013-14 season. ESPN’s argument machine #NBARank dropped Mamba 15 spots this year to No. 40. You can imagine his response. Read More »

LeBron James On Forgiving Dan Gilbert: “I’m A Man. Men, We All Make Mistakes”

LeBron James

It’s hard to remember now, but a few months ago there were so many obstacles between LeBron James and a potential return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Chief among them, many believed, was the seemingly irreparable nature of his relationship with team owner Dan Gilbert. After the founder of Quicken Loans wrote that immature, embarrassing letter – in Comic Sans! – condemning LeBron for leaving Cleveland in 2010, it was easy to believe that James would never play for a Cavs team with Gilbert at the helm. Evan Turner Ejected For Throwing Ball At Ref (Video)

Evan Turner, James Johnson

Evan Turner was running point guard for the Celtics last night during their preseason game against the Raptors. He was doing pretty well, too, shooting the ball efficiently (5-of-9), and getting his teammates involved (six dimes). Except, it was a pass to the referee that got him tossed from the game near the end of the third quarter. Read More »

Nick Young Comes To Iggy Azalea’s Defense During Feud With Snoop Lion

Iggy Azalea, Nick Young

It seems like the only thing we love talking about more than Nick Young is the affable Los Angeles Laker’s relationship with Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea. So that Young has become involved in the social media feud between his girlfriend and Snoop Dogg/Lion? It’s a development that makes for ideal Dime blogging coverage – or something like that. Udonis Haslem Threatens To “Back Hand” The “Punks Hiding Behind Social Media”

Udonis Haslem

We really hope Udonis Haslem doesn’t get fined. The 11-year Heat veteran and three-time NBA champion took umbrage with a recent comment on an Instagram photo and decided to respond. Unfortunately the rhetoric will might get him in trouble with the league office and it’ll only spur on the mongoloids who think it’s OK to trash athletes and others while sitting comfortably ensconced behind the screen of their phone or computer. Former Kobe Bryant Teammate Tells Stories Of 1-On-1 With Lakers Legend

Kobe Bryant

We knew that Kobe Bryant’s work ethic is among the best basketball has ever seen before Phil Jackson said it “went beyond” Michael Jordan’s. The Zen Master’s assessment, though, lent even more credence to Bryant’s hallowed, unrelenting drive than we ever thought possible. That of the Mamba’s former Los Angeles Lakers teammate Tony Gaffney won’t do the same, but will still prove a useful anecdote as we immortalize Bryant for decades to come. Read More »

Andre Iguodala Says Klay Thompson 3-Point Attempts Are Comparable To Layups

Andre Iguodala, Klay Thompson

It’s not even debatable anymore: Corner three-pointers and attempts from the restricted area are the most valuable shots in basketball. The Houston Rockets have based an entire offensive identity on this line of thinking to great success, and every defense in the league’s foremost goal is preventing those specific tries. While the NBA has obviously come around to understanding the value of shots from deep, though, most players and teams would surely opt for an uncontested layup as opposed to dishing to an open teammate waiting beyond the arc. But the Golden State Warriors aren’t most teams, and Klay Thompson isn’t most shooters. Read More »

Wesley Matthews: “I Think I’m The Best Two-Way Two-Guard In The NBA”

Wesley Matthews, James Harden

Yesterday we gave you our list of the top 20 shooting guards in the NBA today. Blazers off-guard Wesley Matthews came in at No. 16, but we know Matthews thinks he should be higher after telling The Columbian’s Erik Gunderson he was the “best two-way, two guard in the NBA.” Read More »
