[Happy birthday to one of our favorite players, Chris Paul. For his big day, check out this list we put together a little while back celebrating CP3's Top 10 Crossovers.]
Chris Paul is the best point guard in the NBA. There’s no debating that. Anything you need from a point guard Paul can do. Need assists? Paul dished 9.7 assists a night this season. Need defense? Paul led the league in steals with 2.4 a game. Need points? Paul was third in scoring on the Los Angeles Clippers with 16.4 a night (that number jumped to 22.8 in the playoffs). Need ballhandling? Paul dribbles like the basketball is just an extension of his fingers. Read More »

We took a break from hitting replay on the new Game of Thrones trailer to catch the Toronto/Milwaukee game, and outside of the terrible jersey choices (when did this trend begin of both teams wearing away uni colors? It needs to end now), the matchup was surprisingly awesome. The Bucks won 122-114 after dominating the overtime period, mainly because Ersan Ilyasova (29 points, 11 rebounds) morphed into a Hall of Famer at times in the second half and OT, and because Brandon Jennings morphed into Magic Johnson. The last time Rudy Gay posted up Evan Turner, the Sixers appointed nerd damn near ripped Gay’s arm out of his socket. That was back in 2011, and since then, Gay, Zach Randolph and the Grizz can’t go a week without someone pointing out that their marriage is doomed for failure. This time, the Gay-on-Turner post-up worked out a little better in Memphis’ three-point win in Philadelphia. Read More »

FRESH PICKINGS:
Aaron Brooks (10 percent owned in Yahoo!, 1 percent owned in ESPN)
It looks like the Kings’ point guard situation is finally resolving itself, with Aaron Brooks leading the pack of late. After a clunker in his first start against Brooklyn, he has averaged 14.3 points, 2.6 assists and 2.6 threes per game. He’s never going to dominate any defensive stats and he may sometimes tank your field goal percentage, but it was just three seasons ago when Brooks was a hot commodity in fantasy, pouring in 19.6 points on 2.5 threes per game for the Houston Rockets. He is well worth a speculative add. Read More »

Believe it or not, there were some other significant moves this offseason than what “SportsCenter” would lead you to believe. Steve Nash and Dwight Howard to the Lakers, Deron Williams signing with the Nets and Joe Johnson joining him and even Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan re-signing with the C’s and Spurs, respectively, were stories that we heard about all summer long. As we close in on the 2012-2013 season, it’s time to take a look back at 10 moves that didn’t get enough notice this offseason. Read More »

DeMarcus Cousins’ on-court tantrums can be worse than your six-year-old’s. Ejections, scuffles and whistles follow him. He was even sent home for a game on the road against New Orleans last season. In the words of Jerry Colangelo at July’s USA Select Team practice, Cousins “has a lot of growing up to do.” Read More »

Leave it to my city to turn a friendly game of basketball into a political battlefield.
At the same time that a legitimate proposal to build a new NBA arena is being kicked around the Seattle City Council, an event like the Jamal Crawford Summer Pro Am All-Star Game takes on a heavier meaning: A community rally of sorts for arena supporters and starving Supersonics fans to point out basketball’s role in the fabric of the Emerald City, but also an opportunity for arena opponents to say, “Why do we need to build a $400 million basketball facility when you guys seem perfectly happy here?” Read More »

About a week ago, we brought you the story of Stephon Marbury rampaging his way through the Chinese Basketball Association with all the swagger we remember from the Steph from years ago.
And now today, we can call Marbury “champion.” Read More »

I miss Stephon Marbury.
The headline to this post aside, things really are going quite well for Steph in China. This week he is in a spot to lead his Beijing Ducks to their first-ever CBA championship over league power Guandong Tigers (led by Aaron Brooks).
The 35-year old Marbury went nuts in the three games his team won in the 5-game semifinals, going for 30 points in one game, and 50+ in the other two. The finals won’t be easy though, as you see in this video from Game 1 where he gets a cheap shot from a defender and then gets told about it: Read More »

As many pointed out on Twitter yesterday, if the Lakers got both Dwight Howard and Chris Paul, they might as well start the next lockout immediately. We aren’t trying to rain on anyone’s “end of the lockout” parade. Quite frankly, we don’t believe it’ll happen either. But it’s a thought, a thought that a few people in the business have. What if it just so happened that the Lakers didn’t just get Dwight Howard (a very real possibility), but they also nabbed CP3 as well? Howard has this weird fascination with following whatever Shaq did. He also wants to play with Kobe more than anyone else. He also loves warm weather. The Lakers also have assets up the a–. The Magic are also extremely worried – getting more nervous by the day – that Superman 2.0 will leave them just like the original did. Read More »
