TAG: Aaron Gray

Ahh, the pick and roll … the giver of the majority of NBA dunk highlights. Teams generally don’t defend it well, don’t rotate quickly, and the result is an offensive player rolling down the heart of the lane with nothing between him and the rim and the SportsCenter highlights in his head.
Example: Trevor Booker‘s cram last night on Aaron Gray and the Toronto Raptors: Read More »

This team is all about a stud point guard and a bunch of spare parts. If its big free agent doesn’t re-sign with the team, the New Orleans Hornets could be one of the more unappealing NBA teams for fantasy owners. With nearly half of its roster on the market, the Hornets will be a team to monitor whenever the league resumes. Read More »

Last season didn’t exactly end how Aaron Gray wanted it to, but he did get something out of it: PT. This summer didn’t go exactly the way he wanted it to, but he did get something out of it: a chance to test the market. Earlier this summer, Gray declined his nearly $1.1 million player option and will be a free agent whenever the lockout is settled. Fresh off a season-ending loss to the Lakers in the playoffs where he played very well during his time on the floor, Gray is aiming to finally earn consistent minutes next season. Somewhere. Anywhere, whether it’s in New Orleans or not. Read More »

Was Scottie Pippen jilted? Why is he STILL leaking Money from his mouth? It wasn’t too long ago that MJ was personally thanking Scottie during his now infamous Hall of Fame roast. But now Pippen is on a personal mission: unleash all Hell on Jordan’s name. His latest offering comes from the New York Daily News, who quoted Pippen saying, “He doesn’t have a clue” after Jordan’s latest draft picks of Kemba Walker and Bismack Biyombo. Read More »

I’m not saying anything profound by declaring that the NBA is a business. Dollars and cents clearly take precedence over loyalty and feelings. But while this harsh reality may often come as a surprise to devoted season ticket holders, the bottom line is the bottom line. There’s a reason teams fire coaches and let the GM take a seat on the bench. Perhaps it’s not the correct basketball move, but the Band-Aid is much cheaper than the surgery. Read More »

So I guess I’m supposed to have something serious to say about this Gilbert Arenas thing, right? Black athlete gets in trouble, powerful White man pounds the gavel and takes money out of Black athlete’s pocket, Black sportswriters instinctively begin to crank out … something … because whether it’s the Thunderbird-fueled wino on the bus or it’s some other clown, what one of us does in front of White folks reflects on all of us. And given the players in this particular drama, there must be a racial seed at the root that needs to be addressed. Read More »
