You can still count on seeing Bruce Bowen as an NBA analyst for ESPN, but after retiring in 2009, a part of Bowen can still be seen in AT&T Center in San Antonio now — the Spurs retired his No. 12 Wednesday night, the seventh Spur honored.
And that’s about as close as anyone who had to play against him wants him.

Carmelo Anthony
Wednesday night wasn’t a bad night to pass the rock around the NBA, but a couple dimes became must-watches the second they were thrown.
Arguably — and we can always here at Dime go on about who had that night’s best, well, dime — the two best of the night came from Carmelo Anthony in Philly and Manu Ginobili in San Antonio. Read More »

While the Sixers were once again teaching everyone in the arena the basics of How To Run God Awful Offense At The End Of A Game 101, Jeremy Lin (18 points) was balling. The dude started the game shooting 1-for-9 and yet still had that bounce in his step. He got to the rim. He found his bigs. And most importantly, he made his free throws to close out the Sixers, 82-79. Amar’e Stoudemire chipped in 21 and nine, and his legs appear all the way back. He was dunking, spinning in the lane and had one fourth quarter block on Elton Brand at the rim that had Twitter all fired up. Read More »

There isn’t a franchise player in the NBA tougher to peg than Danny Granger. The man gets paid like a superstar, and he’s unquestionably the most talented scorer and all-around player on the Indiana Pacers. He’s hit his share of game-winners and will take on tough defensive assignments. But is Danny Buckets really that guy to take his team deep into the playoffs? Is he a go-to scorer, or just a really, really, really good spot-up shooter? Over the weekend Granger gave the Knicks bulletin-board material, then went out and got hobbled, Misery-style. But last night, Granger dropped 25 points on the Clippers to lead Indiana to an upset win … Read More »

Today’s New York Post is reporting rumors that Carmelo Anthony is hoping to be traded out of New York before Thursday’s deadline because, among other things, he doesn’t get along with Mike D’Antoni and feels like the organization doesn’t value his input concerning personnel decisions.
This seems pretty ridiculous, especially considering we’re less than a year removed from ‘Melo basically holding the Denver Nuggets hostage for almost a full season and forcing his way to New York. But here we are, and this is what Marc Berman of The Post writes this morning: Read More »

After sitting out five games, and then taking the All-Star Game as an opportunity to chill, Derrick Rose is back. With 32 and nine on Tuesday night, and then after he sauteed Tony Parker for 29 points last night in Chicago’s 96-89 win, the back problems are a thing of the past. Parker looked like a pup trying to curtail Rose’s drives, and on the other end shot 5-for-16 in one of those performances where you can visibly see the difference between an MVP and an All-Star … Read More »

There’s no grander stage than Madison Square Garden, and Derrick Rose shined like stars should in NYC as Chicago bounced the Knicks, 105-102. The basics first: 32 points, 13 assists. What left you gasping: a blow-by Toney Douglas dunk in the third, a deke of Tyson Chandler at the rim a little later. The capper, however, was a layup where he avoided Chandler, Amar’e Stoudemire and Jared Jeffries driving through the lane while playing hide-and-seek with the ball around his head. Read More »
