So Close: 7 Trades That Almost Went Down Before The Deadline

Another year, another NBA Trade Deadline gone by. As you probably would expect, the Dime office was Ground Zero today for anything and everything trade related. Whether it was Twitter, texts or phone calls, we were constantly on our toes looking for the most up-to-date info to relay to you, our readers. With players’ names being thrown around more than the gut of Chris Farley in a Matt Foley motivational speaker skit, it was difficult forecasting what gossip would end up reality. On the wake of the recently kyboshed Mayo/McRoberts deal, it brought my attention to the other rumored deals that were circulating, but for one reason or another didn’t quite come to fruition. Here they are: Read More »

NBA Trade Rumor: Warriors Asking About Nene

Nene

It appears Carmelo Anthony isn’t the only player on Denver that teams are interested in. According to Marcus Thompson II of the Oakland Tribune, the Warriors (who play the Nuggets tonight) have inquired about Nene to help get some scoring from their frontline that currently consists of David Lee, Andris Biedrins and Brandan Wright. Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 2.8

Carmelo Anthony

Beast of the Night: Carmelo Anthony torched the Rockets with 50 points, 11 rebounds, a steal, three blocks and two three-pointers. He shot 67 percent (16-24) from the field, 89 percent (16-18) from the free-throw line and had four turnovers in the loss. Anthony continues to be swarmed by drama but remains a solid fantasy player, despite the horrid assists-to-turnovers ratio so far this month (0.8 assists, 3.5 turnovers per game). Read More »

Buy Low, Sell High: Fantasy Week 6

David Lee

Buy Low: David Lee is finally back after missing eight games due to his funky elbow. His three games back since returning have been fine, but not anything to write home about, and the same can be said about his season so far. Lee has taken a step back from his stellar 2009-10 marks in every statistical category except for steals. Nevertheless, he remains an important cog in that Warriors offense and should find his way back into fantasy glory once he starts jelling with his new team. Read More »

Daily Fantasy Diagnosis: 11.8 (Weekend Recap)

Pau Gasol

Weekend Wonder: Pau Gasol averaged 25 points, 10.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.5 steals, 1 block and 0.5 turnovers in two games over the weekend and topped things off with his fourth career triple-double on Sunday. As expected, Gasol is putting up huge numbers with Andrew Bynum still making his way back, but even when the man with weak knees returns, the Spaniard will still be a top-12 stud. Read More »

The Best 24 NBA Fantasy Basketball Category Specialists

Chris Andersen

If you’re in the latter half of your draft and can’t see your team’s flaws, you’re either in a shallow league, pulling off one helluva draft, or aren’t paying enough attention to your categorical strengths and weaknesses. Most of us, however, will notice the categories that appear to be dragging our teams down. While some of these areas are easier to make up for in the later rounds than others, there are plenty of lower-rung fantasy players who can help fill in the gaps. Here’s an overview of some players (listed in no particular order) who will be found in the later rounds of your drafts and can help you out in the specified areas. Read More »

“Bleep the Heat” says ex-Miami player; Bosh dumps on Toronto

Chris Bosh

Combine the typical widespread preseason optimism of every NBA team with the fact that the start of training camp means Media Days all around, and you know why this time of year is always good for blatant bulletin-board material and more subtle jabbing comments … On one hand you have Chris Bosh, who (intentionally or not) sneak-insulted the Raptors by telling everybody that he’s never been in a training camp as intense as Miami’s — probably because they’re focusing on, you know, defense. Breaking News: Best NBA Free Agent Signs With The Warriors

Louis Amundson

Once the Big Three was formed in Miami, it seems Louis Amundson was the most coveted NBA free agent on the market. And while last week the Hornets appeared to be the front-runner to sign him, according to his agent Mark Bartelstein, the Warriors snuck in to sign him to a two-year, $5 million deal. The second year is a player option. Read More »

Noah decides to shut it down; Iverson isn’t getting a choice

Joakim Noah

In a couple of days we’ll have plenty of reasons to be distracted from an NBA free agency/trade “frenzy” that is suddenly moving slower than Skee-Lo‘s last album sales. The World Basketball Festival kicks off in NYC on Thursday, where we’ll get an up-close look at Team USA, France, China, Brazil and Puerto Rico in a series of scrimmages and exhibition games, among a million other things going on for the big four-day weekend … Joakim Noah won’t be there playing for Team France, as he’s decided to take the summer off while trying to avoid injury. He also won’t be stepping off curbs, using knives at home, or showering the rest of the summer just to be safe … Read More »
