After a solid 12-year career, veteran guard Bobby Jackson has decided to retire according to the Sacramento Bee. Jackson, 36, who played for the Sacramento Kings last season, has also suited up for the Nuggets, Timberwolves, Grizzlies, Hornets and Rockets. His best year came during his first stint with the Kings (2000-05), where he averaged a career high 15.2 ppg and won the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award during the ‘02-03 season. Read More »
Even with training camp starting next week, there are still guys out there looking for jobs. And while the opportunity to get a non-guaranteed deal for the chance to even fight for a roster spot gets slimmer and slimmer, there are definitely more free agents left on the market than jobs available. Take a look at who’s left: Read More »
Nothing happened in basketball yesterday. Really. The Celtics are still trying to find a way to make that sign-and-trade for Marquis Daniels work (a.k.a. ringing Chris Wallace’s phone off the hook), the Hawks are looking to add another big man (those auditioning for the role include Joe Smith, Jason Collins, Stromile Swift and D-League MVP Courtney Sims), and Linzas Kleiza is getting closer and closer to signing with Olympiakos (Greece) and making it official that the Nuggets really lost ground on the whole improving-the-team thing this summer. In a slight departure from what we’ve been doing so far, today we’re matching up two of the best teams that never made it to the Finals in a hypothetical series for that elusive ring. Same rules still apply, though: This has nothing to do with the stat-driven “fantasy basketball” you play online. Assume both lineups are healthy, and the older team gets homecourt. Today it’s C-Webb and Bibby against STAT and Nash…Read More »
When JR Smith is locked in, he’s one of the five most compelling players to watch in the League. Last night he drained eleven treys with Kings hanging all over him. But as you’ll see in this montage, a significant portion of those three’s came when the game was already way out of reach. Even though Sacramento has locked up the top spot in the Blake Griffin lottery, they weren’t happy that JR was pouring it on, gunning for the NBA record.
After the trade deadline, once all the dust settled, there was one team more than the rest that I was excited about: the Sacramento Kings. I know what you’re thinking, but I’m not crazy. Despite Sacramento’s 13-48 record in the Western Conference, there is more than Kevin Johnson to be excited about in Sac-Town.
Think about it. Just weeks ago this team was miserable with a couple big salaries on the roster of players they had no desire to have, and now the forever documented “youth movement” is on in full effect and the Kings are primed to become players once again. If I had to find one team to compare them to, it would be Miami. Read More »
