Rajon Rondo Goes For Round 2 With the City of Boston

Last year, Rajon Rondo and Red Bull teamed up in a big way to give back to the City of Boston by creating Boston’s Got Wings. For every steal Rondo recorded (153 in only 68 games), $500 was donated to the Boston Parks and Recreation Department to refurbish basketball courts throughout the city, netting the parks $76,500.

Even in the postseason, the season-long journey of the great Boston’s Got Wings program has continued to make a real, tangible impact on the City of Boston’s basketball courts. All season long, Red Bull has been donating $500 to Boston’s Parks and Recreation Department for every steal recorded by Rajon Rondo, with every single dollar going towards the refurbishments of outdoor basketball courts all over the city. Rajon Rondo Gives Wings to Another Boston Basketball Court

If you’re a regular reader of this site, you know that we are champions of Rajon Rondo and his partnership with Red Bull and Boston’s Got Wings. It is a program that sees $500 donated to Boston’s Parks and Recreation Department for every steal Rondo gets during the season. Those funds are then used to refurbish city basketball courts in need of repair. At every 30-steal milestone, funding is allocated to a park decided by community voting. Rajon Rondo Steals the Spotlight for Boston

Since Rajon Rondo returned from his ankle injury, he has been a problem for opposing teams, with his monster 12-point, 10-rebound, 22-assist, 6-steal ripping of the Spurs last Wednesday serving as Exhibit A. Just in terms of steals, Rondo has 13 in his last three games alone.

During his 5-steal barrage against Chicago over the weekend, Rondo blew past the 60-steal mark for the season.
