While Boston College has been on the decline since Jackson’s departure (the Eagles are currently 7-11 overall and 2-2 in the ACC), the 6-3 guard’s career appears to be heading in the opposite direction. After being selected at No. 24 by Oklahoma City last June, Jackson is averaging 11 minutes per game for the 14-3 Thunder. Read More »

When you look at a story, the way it is told and the driving force behind it, there are so many elements, so many moments where things could have been done differently. In ESPN’s latest film, Unguarded, director Jonathan Hock (Through the Fire, Off the Rez) goes behind the curtain and into both the highs and darkest of lows in the life of former NBA guard Chris Herren. This story, like Herren’s life, could have turned out and been told differently; but thankfully for all parties it wasn’t. Read More »

If you’ve visited DimeMag.com before, you’re surely familiar with the Drew and Goodman Leagues. You know, the leagues that have brought us a 51-point performance from Brandon Jennings, a near triple-double from LeBron James, and an off the backboard slam from Kevin Durant. But D.C. and L.A. aren’t the only cities where basketball is being played this summer. Read More »

The coaching carousel can spin fast and furious. Take the chain reaction that followed Billy Lange’s decision to leave Navy for the associate head coaching position at Villanova. You may have noticed something a little different if you watched Midnight Madness at an Under Armour school this past Friday. That’s right, new uniforms. With over 30 NCAA and high school teams sporting new uniforms (including footwear) this season, and each one being designed specifically for the school, I decided to seek out the masterminds behind the new threads. In an exclusive interview with Under Armour’s Adam Clement (Senior Apparel Designer) and Derek Speicher (Product Line Manager), go behind the scenes and check out the new uniforms for the University of Maryland and Boston College. After star Rakim Sanders and potential star Brady Heslip decided to transfer from Boston College when they heard Steve Donahue would be coming to Boston, Eagles fans had a tough time staying optimistic about their future. With the great recruits Duke and North Carolina landed this season, Donahue decided to look to the future for help. His first recruit, 6-11 center Dennis Clifford who attends Milton Acedemy in Massachusetts, accepted Donahue’s offer nearly instantly. Although BC does not have any recruits in its 2010 class, this is a great start for 2011. Read More »

There is an old saying in the NBA, “it’s hard to make the NBA and it’s even harder to stay.” People forget that every year, 50 or so rookies come into the League, which means 50 have to go out. Some of our favorite names in college disappear into obscure basketball leagues across the globe. One name that fits in that category is Troy Bell. Read More »
