Allen Iverson

In the game of basketball there is nothing like witnessing an ankle-breaker. Dunks are cool, but there is something about watching a defender surrender to gravity and falling on the court after a vicious crossover. Whether you fight it to this day, we have all been victims. Read More »

Who’s Better: Brandon Jennings Or Kemba Walker?

Brandon Jennings

Brandon Jennings (Tim Fuller/USA TODAY Sports)

Before Shabazz Napier, there was Kemba Walker. Walker came into the league with a lot of hype and not a lot of opportunity to grow and learn from his mistakes. Playing for Charlotte meant most fans were only going to associate him with the team’s W/L record and for that, the UConn product was a perennial loser. Read More »

Report: Joe Dumars Likely To Resign As Pistons GM

Joe Dumars

Joe Dumars (Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports)

He’s taken some hits over the last decade at the helm in Detroit, and now Pistons GM Joe Dumars appears ready to resign at season’s end after another disappointing season that will end with the Pistons again missing the playoffs. The offseason signings of Brandon Jennings, in a sign-and-trade with Milwaukee, and the free agent acquisition of Josh Smith, did little to squash the losing that’s pervaded in Detroit during the last half-decade, and now Dumars is telling people around the NBA he’s going to resign, perhaps as soon as this week. Russell Westbrook

Russell Westbrook (Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports)

It’s that special time of the season, once again, where we take a look at the useful information that is NBA.com’s stat-tool: SportVU.

As you’ve seen in previous articles on the subject, SportVU can break down everything from percentages on catch-and-shoot jumpers and pull-ups, to the amount of touches a player gets per game. As a result, we have captured some intriguing stats that have told us who are some of the league’s best and worst drivers, the best passer in the league not named Chris Paul, and a championship-contender that’s chock full of rotation players that are constantly on the move. Dime Q&A: Isaiah Thomas On His P&R Defense, Playing With Boogie & A Lot More

Isaiah Thomas

Isaiah Thomas (Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports)

We freakin’ love Isaiah Thomas, and we’re not bashful about it either. The 5-9 point guard was selected with the last pick, No. 60, by the Kings in the 2011 NBA Draft, and he has met every challenge since head-on. His ability to score and lead the offense is the result of all his hard work, and it played a role in forcing Sacramento to switch Tyreke Evans to a small forward role. He also beat out a succession of point guards to retain the starting point guard spot in each of his three seasons in the NBA. We got lucky and spent a long time chatting with him by phone as he mentally prepared to face Detroit earlier this week. Read More »

Dime Q&A: Aquille Carr Talks NBA Draft & His Road Less Traveled

Aquille Carr

Aquille Carr (photo. Douglas Sonders)

There are a handful of American basketball players who have entered the NBA Draft without attending college since the 2005 Collective Bargaining Agreement put a damper on any high schoolers dreaming to jump straight to the pros. It isn’t a perfect science, but players like Brandon Jennings and Jeremy Tyler have stuck around NBA circles after their unorthodox methods to get there. Read More »

Brandon Jennings Says The Pistons Didn’t Give Maurice Cheeks “Enough Time”

Maurice Cheeks, Brandon Jennings

The Pistons are 2-7 since firing coach Maurice Cheeks and replaced him with interim coach John Loyer. While acknowledging that Loyer is fine, Detroit’s point guard Brandon Jennings isn’t happy how fast Cheeks saw the axe. With multiple new players in a Pistons uniform this season, Jennings felt Cheeks deserved more time to create a cohesive unit. Read More »

The 10 Best NBA Players Who May Never Be All-Stars

Brandon Jennings

Brandon Jennings (Tim Fuller/USA TODAY Sports)

Before the 2014 NBA All-Star Weekend, we knew which studs would be playing, but that was never the fun part. We’d rather talk about who should’ve made it. Did you really think Anthony Davis deserved to be an All-Star before DeMarcus Cousins? The season that Cousins is having still blows my mind that he didn’t make the All-Star team, although we all know why: His team is terrible. Read More »

Andre Drummond Swat Sets Up Brandon Jennings Layup

The Pistons got their third straight win at home on Monday night with San Antonio in town during their annual rodeo road trip. But this Detroit win was different since it was interim coach John Loyer‘s first game after Mo Cheeks was fired. Second year big man Andre Drummond showed out with a sick block on Nando De Colo that led to a fast break layup for Brandon Jennings. Later, Jennings returned the favor. Read More »
