Gerald Wallace Is The Key For Portland’s Present And Future

Gerald Wallace

Tuesday brought another Portland victory, this time over the Clippers, at the Rose Garden, where the Trail Blazers are undefeated at home this season. After Brandon Roy‘s retirement, news that LaMarcus Aldridge underwent heart surgery in the fall and another Greg Oden injury setback, things in Portland are perhaps unforeseeably sunny right now after an early December of discontent. Top 10 Comebacks In NBA History

Paul Pierce

“He’s incredible. The Broncos gave him NO shot! They don’t believe in him. John Fox and John Elway are secretly hoping he screws up so they can point their noses up at fans and say ‘I told you so!’ Tim Tebow has the clutch gene. This kid is special.”

Forgive me for getting my Skip Tebow on for just a second but I had to vent. Tim Tebow may not be a great player in the historical sense of the word – we don’t even really need to argue whether he can pass well enough to make it longterm or if he’s simply a fad. Tebow has become the story of the NFL season because he’s done the incredible. He turned a weak Denver team in a probable playoff and division-winning group that has so much confidence trailing in the fourth quarter that teams should probably start thinking about letting them take leads. Kobe Bryant Is Angry About The Lamar Odom Trade; Chris Paul To The Clippers?

Kobe Bryant

The Clippers better hope David Stern likes their team because if it comes down to it, he’ll have a huge say in whether or not they get the best point guard in the game to possibly ignite the next Gary Payton/Shawn Kemp oop combo. ESPN is reporting Chris Paul likes the Clippers if he can’t ever get to the Knicks or Lakers, and luckily for L.A. they have a ton of assets that should please Stern, Dan Gilbert and anyone else who wants to complain. They have expiring contracts (Chris Kaman), draft picks (a possibly top three-five pick in a loaded June draft) and talent. Read More »

Report: Brandon Roy Will Announce Retirement

Brandon Roy

Take a deep breath for me. Today is getting crazier by the hour. After the news that technically became non-news that helped turn it into the biggest news of the past year in the NBA, now we have some sad news on top of it.

Just a few moments ago, Chris Broussard tweeted this: Sources say Brandon Roy to announce medical retirement due to degenerative knees, possibly as soon as today. Wow. Can we steal your wording Chris Paul? Yes, everyone knew about Roy’s physical condition: three major knee surgeries within the past year and a half. Everyone knew Portland was thinking about using the amnesty clause on him. Yet retirement for a 27-year-old is always surprising. Read More »

Report: Brandon Roy Will Remain with the Portland Trail Blazers

Brandon Roy

You may have seen this on Twitter last night after it broke, but it appears as if the Portland Trail Blazers will not be using their Amnesty Clause out on Brandon Roy. This can be seen as somewhat of a surprise move, considering that as last as last week, all signs pointed to Roy’s days in a Blazers uni being a wrap. [We even had him near the top of this list.]

Waiving Roy would have reportedly saved the Blazers about $15 million in salary this year alone. So what changed? Read More »

Orlando Thinking About A Dwight Howard Trade; Tyson Chandler Expects To Leave Dallas

Dwight Howard

Did you hear the Magic brass isn’t too smart? That’s what it feels like. Since none of us are a part of Orlando’s organization, we can sit here and talk about “Well, they might as well trade Dwight Howard now and get the most for him. They can’t let him leave for nothing.” We can call for the GM, Otis Smith, to start reaching out to everyone, mainly the Nets and the Lakers, to figure something out. But if we were Smith, we definitely wouldn’t have said what he did yesterday. In an interview with Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, Smith said about the Howard trade rumors: “I think you have to look at everything. I don’t think you can take anything out of consideration.” Read More »

The Top 5 Potential NBA Amnesty Clause Victims

Baron Davis

There has been a lot of talk over the last several weeks about the new CBA’s “Amnesty Clause” for NBA teams. In it’s most basic sense, the clause is a do-over for teams, where they can rid themselves of one hideous contract. So in a league awash in bad deals that cripple teams, the rule would provide the option to eliminate the absolute worst of the worse. (Stuff you need to know: it’s not as easy as just eliminating a contract. Check this out for the details of the clause.)

Depending on how many teams decide to use the clause, there could be a lot of very talented NBA players instantly unemployed. So who are the best of the “worst” players who could potentially be available? Here are my Top 5: Read More »
