Kidd Wants Dual Front Office/Coaching Role; Likely Out In Brookyln

Jason Kidd

It wasn’t long ago that Jason Kidd the head coach intentionally spilled a drink on the court to try and steal the league’s most expensive team in history its fifth win through the first 15 games of last season. It speaks volumes of the Brooklyn Nets’ turnaround and Kidd’s improvement on the sideline that such an embarrassing moment has mostly been forgotten. The future Hall-Of-Famer could be considered one of basketball’s brightest young coaches after leading the Nets to a 34-17 record once the calendar flipped to 2014, and he’s begun wielding the clout that comes with such a distinction by reportedly requesting front office and decision-making power from Brooklyn ownership. The problem for Kidd? Mikhail Prokhorov and company are refusing to give it to him and will likely sever ties with Kidd as a result. Read More »

Marquis Teague, Jeff Teague

The Teague brothers, Marquis and Jeff, provided a high level free basketball camp for boys grades 4-8 this past Saturday, June 7 at their Indianapolis Pike High School alma mater. Coming from the inner city, Jeff and Marquis Teague have banded together to provide an elite basketball instruction camp that will not only help the youngsters with their skills, but — perhaps more importantly — help kids grasp the concept of basketball as a tool to reach college and improve their future. Paul Pierce Is Interested In Signing With Clippers

Paul Pierce

You never expect it. You never expect to see the day your idols grow old. Old and slow, and stubborn and forgotten. The pull-up jumpers start falling short. The legs start giving out. Paul Pierce isn’t the same player he once was. That player wouldn’t have asked to guard LeBron and then proceed to get lit up for 49 points. But the Truth still has something left, and he says he intends to play for another year or two. Read More »

GIF: “Animated” LeBron James After Heat Advance

LeBron James

When the Heat held on in Game 5 last night, despite Joe Johnson‘s very real threat of forcing a Game 6, LeBron James — perhaps a bit prematurely — jumped on the scorers table, and pounded his chest as the normally too cool for school Miami crowd cheered him on. Now he’s getting the animated GIF treatment by Pat Truby, a GIF Master we’ve featured before. Read More »

The Brooklyn Nets Asked For This

Kevin Garnett, LeBron James, Paul Pierce

It didn’t come to them exactly as planned or in the form they would have most preferred, but they got what they angled for and that was a shot at the champs. The Nets were constructed to compete against the Miami Heat, even acquiring noted Heat antagonists Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to join their cause. The duo was supposed to be the shot in the arm that provided the experience, professionalism, personality and heart anybody with a pulse could see the Nets lacked.

It almost worked, too. Read More »

Joe Johnson Almost Won It For Brooklyn, But LeBron Got Him In The End

Joe Johnson, James Jones, LeBron James

There are a lot of people you can assign some blame to for the Nets’ 4-1 series loss to the Heat in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, but Joe Johnson isn’t one of them. The hulking, 6-8 shooting guard gets criticized for being overpaid, but he dropped 34 points in Brooklyn’s elimination game in Miami. In the end, though, LeBron James and the Heat thwarted his efforts. Read More »

Video: Ray Allen Go-Ahead 3-Pointer Helps Heat Move On

Ray Allen, Rachel Nichols

The Brooklyn Nets went into Game 5 on Wednesday night facing elimination in Miami. The Nets were not going down without a fight, and held a lead into the final minute. Thanks to a late rally by LeBron James and Dwyane Wade‘s strong play throughout, Game 5 came down to the wire. With the score sitting at 91-90 in favor of the Nets, Ray Allen hit a corner three-pointer with 32 seconds left. The shot has become the norm for the future hall-of-famer. Read More »

Video: LeBron Threads The Needle To Dwyane Wade

Deron Williams, LeBron James

The Heat didn’t expect the Nets to roll over and die after taking a close Game 4 in Brooklyn, but the two-time defending champs were down nine in the fourth to a pesky Nets team unafraid with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett whispering in their ears. Despite Joe Johnson punking LeBron James a couple times, the upset in Miami never happened thanks to a retro performance by Dwayne Wade. Read More »

Watch LeBron James Drop Franchise Playoff Record 49 Points In Game 4 Win

LeBron James

Game 4 was essentially a one-man show for the Heat on Monday night, as LeBron James’ performance was too much for the Nets to handle. Not only did Miami leave Brooklyn with a 102-96 win to give them a 3-1 series lead, but James scorched the Nets for 49 points on 16-of-24 shooting. Read More »
