Raptors & Thunder: A Match Made In Heaven

Chris Bosh

The Raptors and Thunder are two teams heading in starkly different directions. The Thunder were one of the feel good stories of the NBA this past season. They have one of the best young cores in the League, and a team chemistry that is not often seen. On the other hand, Toronto struggled this past season with chemistry issues, underachievement, and now faces the likely loss of star forward Chris Bosh. While these two teams are going in opposite directions, they can both help each other greatly. Read More »

The Raptors Are Willing To Mortgage The Farm For A Winning Team

Raptors

Perhaps it’s all just talk, or perhaps it’s not. But the Toronto Raptors are surely sick of losing. Looking in from the outside this postseason, Raptors president Bryan Colangelo is apparently willing to do whatever it takes for a franchise that missed the playoffs for the seventh time in nine seasons. Chris Bosh On Free Agency: “It’s About Winning”

Chris Bosh, Dime #33

In my opinion, there’s no fan-base more rabid than the Toronto Raptors. And understandably so. As the lone representative of NBA teams above the border, it’s hard to shed the title of “expansion team” and become a legit title contender in the NBA. Forget about competing with the traditions of Boston, Los Angeles and even Chicago, the Raptors have only been around since 1995. So when the mainstream media continually come out and attack their franchise player, Chris Bosh, I understand how the initial reaction from Raptors Nation is to get defensive. It’d be like me going up to you and your wife and telling your that she’d have such a better life with me. You wouldn’t be too pleased. Read More »

An Open Letter to Hedo Turkoglu: “Don’t be stupid.”

Hedo Turkoglu

“I talked to a couple of other doctors, a couple of other friends and they really kind of told me the same stuff that these guys told me. It’s not that I didn’t believe (Raptors doctors), but (friends) called me because they heard I wasn’t going to wear the mask and they said, ‘Don’t be stupid.'” – Hedo Turkoglu to The Toronto Star, February 7, 2010

Dear Hedo,

Let us start with some history. Read More »

Where Are They Now: Rafael Araujo

I’ll be honest, until real recently, I just haven’t given the due credit deserved to both Andrea Bargnani and the Toronto Raptors for picking him up in 2006. After watching his 22 and eight performance last night in the Raptors’ 106-105 win against the Lakers, I guess I’ve just kind of held a blind eye to the 7-foot Italian. With both Bargnani and rook DeMar DeRozan playing well this season – and yes, I know Bargnani was putting up over fifteen a game last season – it got me thinking about just how far T-Dot has come since drafting its worst player in franchise history: Rafael Araujo. The Raptors’ Bigs Need To Get Tougher

Andrea Bargnani

You should never read too much into stats when it comes to the preseason. Because coaches haven’t figured out rotations yet, players aren’t getting their normal minutes and quite frankly, they aren’t playing at 100 percent even when they do get in games. But there are still signs you can pick up by watching teams and players during the preseason. So far, the Raptors have been average at best coming out of the gates. Toronto is 2-3 in the preseason and have already displayed a couple areas of concern. Read More »

Andrea Bargnani Is The Best Plan B In The NBA

Andrea Bargnani

The thought of Chris Bosh bolting south next summer rekindles all sorts of bad memories for Raptors fans. Nine years ago, they watched T-Mac turn his back on the franchise and sign with the Magic. Although it’s just merely speculation that Bosh will sign elsewhere at this point, one person who is doing a great job preparing for the worst is Bryan Colangelo. The Raps GM has been on point all offseason, securing a solid foundation for the future by locking up Hedo Turkoglu and Andrea Bargnani to long-term deals. Read More »

NBA Trade Rumor: Carlos Boozer to Miami

D-Wade

Up until July, Orlando’s Otis Smith and Toronto’s Bryan Colangelo were the two most proactive GM’s in the League. But now, Dwyane Wade is coming for that crown. After lobbying for Allen Iverson, Wade is now reportedly working on getting Carlos Boozer to the Heat.

If AI ends up in Memphis and Boozer heads to Chicago, Wade has Rob Kurz, and a couple of guys who hoop at West 4th in his sights as Plan C, D, E and F. Read More »

Chris Bosh Isn’t A Franchise Player

bosh-33-cover

In an interesting story this morning by the Toronto Sun‘s Frank Zicarelli, the writer puts bluntly something Raptors fans have been avoiding for years: Chris Bosh isn’t a franchise player. Read More »
