Personally, I’m not that big a fan of Halloween. And when it lands on a Monday, it seems like the holiday just never ends. With that said, I do love to see what costumes NBA players decide to wear, and after last year’s festivities, you might remember that some guys get all decked out. After the jump, check out the NBA’s best Halloween costumes from this year. Read More »

The Phoenix Suns remain an offensive machine in the NBA, which makes the squad likable for fantasy purposes. However, with the face of the franchise is slipping into the sunset as he approaches the deep end of his 30s, it’s time for the emergence of new stars in Arizona. A certain hammer of Polish origin will lead the way for this new movement in Phoenix. Read More »

Tickets to Rock the Bells 2011 would be the best birthday present I could ask for. Think about it like this. Illmatic. The Infamous. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. 93 ‘Til Infinity. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Enter Da Stage. Black Star. Liquid Swords. Take the greatest hip-hop albums ever, pile ‘em together into a list and I’m betting the names of all of these come up. Beast of the Night: Channing Frye posted 33 points, four boards, one assist and made nine three-pointers. He shot 67 percent (12-18) from the floor and had no turnovers. While his production in April has been pretty poor, Frye has had a pretty successful season, as he’s managed to average top-50 numbers. With his combination of threes, blocks and solid free-throw shooting, he should maintain solid value next season. Read More »

Beast of the Night: Lamar Odom finished a long night with 29 points, 16 rebounds, five assists, a block and a three-pointer. He shot 59 percent (13-22) from the field, 100 percent (2-2) from the free-throw line and had no turnovers. Odom took full advantage of Andrew Bynum’s suspension in this contest, and the three overtimes helped too. He’s had another strong season, averaging top-50 numbers and improving his scoring and shooting from the field from last season’s marks. Read More »

Breathe. Put the pacemakers back in place and relax. Chris Webber wanted to thank the Basketball Gods for blessing us with that epic Lakers/Suns game that went deep into Tuesday night. You should too … Where do we start in the Lakers triple OT 139-137 win? How about clutch free throws and buckets. Crazy passes in pressure situations. Ron Artest. There’s no way that wasn’t one of the top five games of the year. In the end, it came down to a couple of Kobe Bryant (42 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists) and Artest (18 points) shots that extended the Lakers just beyond Steve Nash (19 points, 20 assists) and the Suns. Kobe hit a three, then Artest stuffed a dunk before hitting a wild floater to put L.A. up five in the third overtime … The first half of the game was typical for this rivalry: big Suns’ runs because of lazy L.A. defense, followed by the Lakers getting enough easy layups to stay close. But the third quarter turned into a personal showcase for the best team in the league (they’re the champs until someone officially takes them out). Offensively, the Lakers were rolling. Defensively, they turned Phoenix into Wofford and L.A. was up as much as 20 points in the period … Read More »

Jesus showed up in Utah last night. With the Celtics getting pushed for the third straight game out west, Ray Allen‘s fourth quarter was more classic than any interview Charlie Sheen could ever give. And that ain’t easy … If you watched the final five minutes of Boston’s five-point win over the Jazz, then you know the difference between a contender and a pretender. Utah played hard enough to win; Al Jefferson (28 points, 19 rebounds) was a monster all night in the post, throwing in a number of weird-looking hook shots, and the Jazz gave Tyrone Corbin everything they had. But ironically, Read More »

Mike Tirico said it best: “Is it me, or does this feel like a playoff game?” LeBron and ‘Melo played like it was. And so did Chauncey Billups … Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire playing defense? The last people who would’ve ever believed in that statement would be Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire. But in yesterday’s three-point statement-win in Miami, the two Knick stars combined for perhaps the biggest play of the game on the defensive end. Read More »

Some debuts, for all their hype, are ultimately quiet and relatively forgettable. That was not the case for Carmelo Anthony with the New York Knicks last night. Some of the Dime crew was at MSG for Knicks/Bucks, which was almost an entire workday in of itself — the introductory press conference for ‘Melo and Chauncey Billups began at 5 p.m., and the last post-game interview with ‘Melo didn’t wrap up until after 11 p.m. In between, ‘Melo dropped 27 points and 10 rebounds in his NY opener, Chauncey put up 21 points and 8 assists, and the Knicks spoiled Milwaukee’s plans to play spoiler … Read More »

Has it really come to this? Derrick Rose can drop a 40-ounce on the best team in the League, the team with a 13-time All-Defensive pick patrolling the paint, and it’s not even a big surprise? At least it wasn’t to D-Rose, whose reaction at the end of his 42-point torching of the San Antonio Spurs last night had all the enthusiasm of a guy stuck in morning traffic … Chicago was up by seven at halftime, when Rose already had 21 points. He opened the third quarter in a brief jump shot duel with Tim Duncan, then took a backseat as Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer got theirs. Read More »
