Dwyane Wade‘s pre- and post-game clothing choices have had about as much impact on this series as he has on the court, and he keeps upping the ante. Tonight he’s getting killed on TNT and Twitter for his suit (and floods).
Here’s Charles, Kenny and Shaq going to work: Read More »

To close out a TNT broadcast that had just finished showing the wild Warriors/Spurs shootout, the guys in the studio brought us this tremendous three-point “contest” between Shaq and Charles Barkley. Read More »

So this is how the night started on TNT: Shaq‘s cell phone went off during some Charles Barkley analysis (Chuck looks like he just heard the smoke alarm or something). O’Neal then chucks the phone. Somehow during that sequence, Shaq’s mic got ripped off, causing them to have to stop the show again.
Mess. Watch it here: Read More »

The complex layers of the relationship between Josh Smith, Atlanta fans and NBA fans at large run deep, and they’ve been there throughout his entire career. Not quite an All-Star. Incredible all-around talent. Not a jump shooter. But he can make them. Not a building block. But building-block level talent. In the third quarter against Indiana last night, with Atlanta slowly blowing what should’ve been an easy win, the Josh Smith demons came to the surface again. Read More »

During his playing days, Charles Barkley was an advertising monster with Nike, and now the new lifestyle “Metallic Green” Barkley Posite Max is being released with a futuristic look. Combining elements of past Barkley sneakers, designer Marc Dolce took inspiration from a dinosaur exhibit in a museum. The shoe features a green hue on the nubuck and Foamposite-based upper. With the NBA Playoffs quickly approaching, the chase for the Larry O’Brien is about to jump into high gear. The teams in the East are set, but they are still jostling for positioning (unless you’re the Miami Heat). In the West, seven of the eight teams are set with it coming down to the wire between the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers for the No. 8 spot. The Heat have proven all year long that they are the team to beat when the second season comes around and will definitely have a very good chance of repeating as champs. Read More »

Back in our previous lives at HoopsTV.com, I was borderline obsessed with finding what I considered to be the Holy Grail of basketball footage: video of an 18-year old then-unknown-to-American basketball named Dirk Nowitzki lighting up an NBA all-star team on an exhibition tour in Europe back in 1997. And not just any NBA all-star team; this one featured Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Charles Barkley, among others. Read More »

There’s always a huge letdown on the morning after March Madness finally ends (even if it is technically April). You see the game. You watch “One Shining Moment” and then boom, no more brackets, no more upsets, no more score checking at work or office pools or Saturday afternoons spent in front of the television with the added benefit of actually valid excuses. The world is so much more dull. Read More »

The star of the night might’ve been the random ice cream guy (more on this later), but the theme of the night had to be based around the Denver Nuggets. Even up until this point — which is now 13 wins in a row for them — no one (and that’s including our Dime readers) believed this team was legit. Now after handling OKC in OKC, it appears they are … Read More »

Coming into a meaningful matchup with OKC, the Lakers were 1-9 against the top four seeds in the West, and 1-10 on the road against the top eight in the West. Maybe they saw a performance like last night coming? They looked rattled and nervous, like a bunch of freshmen making their first start in a JV game. The Lakers fell behind 10-1 before Kendrick Perkins even had a chance to scowl. Read More »
