Beast of the Night: LeBron James owned the Thunder with his 34 points, seven rebounds, 10 assists, four steals, one block and three three-pointers last night. He shot 50 percent (10-20) from the field and 85 percent (11-13) from the free-throw line, and had two turnovers. This followed his 41/6/4 line against the Sixers the previous night. Believe it or not, last night’s monster line helped James reclaim the No. 1 spot over Kevin Durant again. Read More »

Weekend Wonder: Kevin Love was a monster this past weekend, averaging 40.5 points, 17.5 boards, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals, 2.0 blocks and 4.0 threes in two games. In this stretch, he shot 59 percent from the floor and 83 percent from the free-throw line, and averaged 2.0 turnovers per game. While everyone was busy talking about Kemba Walker and the resurgence of New York City basketball this year, Hofstra senior Charles Jenkins was doing work under the radar. Finishing his career as the Pride’s all-time scoring leader with 2,513 points, he became just the 63rd player in NCAA history to log over 2,500 points in a career, finishing second in Colonial Athletic Association history behind Hall of Famer David Robinson. As the CAA Player of the Year for the second year in a row, Jenkins averaged 22.6 points this season, ranking him sixth in the country, along with 3.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game. But what makes him so special? The 6-3, 220-pound guard from Queens could be the first New York City public school graduate to be selected in the first round of the NBA Draft since Sebastian Telfair.
