No. No no noooooooo. Seriously, we had no other reaction to the news about Derrick Rose than that. It really makes us sick to our stomachs. We aren’t Bulls fans. We’re NBA fans, and with the reigning MVP now out for the reason with a torn ACL, everything has changed. The favorites are different, and most importantly, the East is now wide open. Can Boston win two rounds? Yes. Can they break Miami to go to the Finals? They definitely can. Read More »

We know about Kobe. We know about LeBron. And we know about Kevin Durant. We know the championship will probably come down to one or two games, and one or two players. But in every series, they’ll be twists and turns. A Game 3 will slide on a bench player scoring 12 points in a half. Some lower seed with get a split on the road because one of their big men made 90 percent of his free throws. Some ref might throw a game. Anything could happen. Read More »

Normally, we’d start a 13-game night off with some recaps, but since the average margin of victory across the NBA last night was like 87 points, it felt good just to look forward to the weekend. The regular season is over and the matchups are set. In the West, it’ll be San Antonio and Utah, OKC against Dallas, the Lakers taking on Denver and then Memphis hosting the Clippers. The East looks pretty good as well: Chicago takes on Philly, Miami and New York do battle, Indiana will host whatever’s left of the Magic, and even though they’re the No. 4 seed, Boston will open the playoffs in the ATL. Jeremy Lin might be popular, but Derrick Rose can now claim no one sold more NBA jerseys over the past 12 months than him. Chicago’s son and the NBA’s reigning MVP was the best-selling jersey at the NBA Store and nbastore.com since April of 2011. Lin, who finished second on the list, nearly won despite his New York jersey not even being available until February of this year. Read More »

Last night, after LeBron leveled John Lucas with this backcourt screen (and proceeded to beast the Bulls), I caught someone on Twitter wondering how frightening James would be if he attacked everyone the way he goes after Lucas.
Watch ‘Bron crush Lucas here. Yo John, your teammates need to give you a heads up when 6-8, 250 pounds is about to blindside you: Read More »

Last night’s Heat/Bulls game got heated. As far as regular season games go, it was way more physical than usual and it’s pretty clear these two teams hate each other – a long playoff series between them would be incredible.
Rip Hamilton has been antagonizing opponents for years with his Reggie Miller-like schtick. Last night Rip used some of his old tricks to goad Dwyane Wade into giving him a forearm shiver to the chest. Hamilton’s WWE-level acting skills did the rest: Read More »

In Chicago’s overtime win against Detroit yesterday, Derrick Rose dropped 24 and hit a dagger triple at the end of regulation to save the Bulls. But that wasn’t all he talked about afterwards. According to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune‘s Twitter, Rose said “I was mad, man. I’m sick and tired of people trying to take cheap shots at me. I gotta say something.” Who brought this out from the reigning MVP? Charlie Villanueva. Read More »

Before Jason Maxiell finished up his college career at Cincinnati, he was in the college dunk contest, and even in that thing, it was all power, all the time from the former Bearcat. Maxiell doesn’t have much creativity, and really doesn’t get all that high off the ground. But when he brings the thunder, you can feel it. Carlos Boozer barely got out of the way here. Read More »

Last week it appeared that Kevin Durant wanted this MVP much more than LeBron James. But with the comments he made to the media, along with the loss against LeBron and Miami on Wednesday night, Durant has given up his lead. It was very noble and admirable of him to address the media and support his point guard the way he did, however now isn’t the time for that. In the midst of a heated MVP race, Durant pretty much denounced himself as the number one scoring option on his own team. Sure that may have been a good move for the team going forward, and was great for the confidence of Russell Westbrook, but there’s no question that it hurt Durant’s MVP stock. Read More »

Carmelo Anthony had himself a nice little Easter Sunday and wrested the “Derrick Rose returns” storyline away in style. Anthony dropped 43 points in the Knicks’ win over Chicago, and no two shots were bigger than his three-pointers to force overtime and then to win the whole thing. Read More »
