While it may be the road less traveled, 114 players with some form of D-League experience over the last eight seasons are on 2009-10 NBA training camp rosters. Of those, 58 were hooping in the D-League last season, proving that living the dream is possible. Yesterday, my boy from college, Jeff Christensen, hit me and told me that he’s accepted a coaching internship with the D-League’s Bakersfield Jam, the affiliate for the Warriors and Clippers. While a lot of people were complaining about last season’s Top 10 plays yesterday, you can’t argue with this one as Marcus Hubbard of the D-League Select squad drops a buzzer-beating trey to beat the Blazers.

While the NBA Draft is clearly the prefered route, there are other ways to make it to the League. Last week, the NBA’s D-League held their Elite Mini Camp in order to give some current D-League Players another chance to try and impress coaches and scouts from the NBA.

How ironic and ultimately frustrating was it that, on the same weekend when the Iverson-to-Detroit project officially failed, Will Bynum gave the Pistons exactly what A.I. could have given them all along?
