It’s funny how these NBA team execs get all critical of their superstars after they leave, and act like they weren’t all that in the first place, even though they probably just made an impassioned pitch trying to keep said superstar in town. Case in point: Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo, who in an interview yesterday hinted that Chris Bosh milked injuries, quit on the Raptors during this past season, and isn’t really a franchise player. Total PR move on Colangelo’s part — even taking pages from Vince Carter‘s Blueprint to Guaranteed Canadian Hatred — to make sure Bosh is the bad guy and the Raps are the good guys in the eyes of the public. Can you say contract year? There have been moments this season where Carlos Boozer has been looking like an absolute beast. Just last week, we posted this video of him giving Udonis Haslam the business. Last night against the Spurs, Boozer crushed rookie DeJuan Blair’s self esteem with this dunk. While he probably won’t be an All-Star, he’s definitely helping out his free agent stock by averaging 19.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. Read More »
Last night, Damien Wilkins made his uncle Dominique proud with a ridiculous posterization of Nenad Krstic. The Thunder better hope he doesn’t head back to Europe after this. This has to be up there for Dunk of the Year.
Beast of the Night:Jason Kidd was a maestro once again, orchestrating a line to the tune of 16 points, 2 threes, 8 boards, 10 assists, 5 steals, 1 block and 4 turnovers. He shot 83 percent (5-6) from the floor and 100 percent (4-4) from the line. He could be finding his groove, but it’s unlikely that he’ll keep this kind of production up on a consistent basis. Regardless, Kidd remains one of the best fantasy point guards in the land. Read More »
For a franchise that supposedly doesn’t have any money, the Grizzlies went all-out for their home opener. After introducing the Pistons to the theme from Beverly Hills Cop (cute), the Jumbotron showed a dramatic over-the-top video where Allen Iverson and Rudy Gay talked about “Grizz Nation” and defending homecourt. Then the DJ put on a Michael Myers/Halloween-inspired track, and the Jabbawockeez appeared at midcourt to dance. THEN they brought out Three Six Mafia, wearing Memphis jerseys and performing “Stay Fly” to bleed into the player intros, complete with smoke machines and everything else. Read More »

The Oklahoma City Thunder have reportedly acquired Etan Thomas and what amounts to two second round picks in exchange Damien Wilkins and Chucky Atkins.
It’s kind of crazy to think about it, but the Thunder now seem to have serious depth all over the place. Along the front line alone, they now add Thomas (a serviceable big) to a mix that already includes Read More »
